Stayed at this hotel with searings 5 days holiday,The rooms were clean,
The food was more than enough well cooked and well presented with plenty of choice on the menu, The entertainment was not the best but was ok. All the staff was more than helpfull from the porter to the general manager. The hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there as most coach holiday hotels are that we have stayed in.
The coach drivers are the best we have ever had, helpfull funny and give you good history on all the trips, in fact Graham ( the driver ) only stops talking to breath.
After reading the other reviews about this hotel we were concerned but this is one of the best coach holidays we have been on. Dont belive the bad reviews you read about this hotel, if you want value for money superb, if you want a 5 star hotel, pay £200 a night and dont go there.

We visited the Tarbet Hotel on a Shearings Coach trip. The Hotel is a beautiful building. However it is in need of an upgrade but not to the extent that it would spoil your stay. The staff are extremely helpful. Rooms are fine clean bedding and bathroom was clean. Food is on a menu basis but there is plenty of choice and perfectly edible. Loved the location and the views. For the price we paid for the tour it was well worth the money.

I visited this hotel recently and really enjoyed my stay with friends here. Ok the entertainment is dated and also the host but the manners and politeness of the staff is second to none. There were obviously some staffing issues at the time as i noticed the manager was there working almost 24/7 for the whole week we stayed. He was also seen working the bar and waiting on tables and was always polite and helpful.

On talking to a member of staff it appears the manager has not been there long and it seemed to us he is determined to improve this place and is apparently in the process of renovating.
Come on shearings- this is a great location and could be a great hotel. We had a fabulous stay there but would like to come back next time to see how the rooms and entertainment has been improved- good luck to the new management and his staff.

And all u moaners out there- we got a real bargain, if u want luxury then dig deeper into your pockets!!

Impressive Scottish baronial style from the outside but low budget amenities and service inside. On the positive side: Great site by the loch (even if not visible from most of the many rooms), good sized car park, large bedrooms, and a decent breakfast choice. The service was friendly at reception but when I dared to go to breakfast 5 minutes before the 8am official time I was met with a "How did you get in?" and at 8am duly told I must sit at a different table in the empty dining room! On the negative side, the building is badly in need of a complete overhaul and upstairs the corridor fire doors trap the musty smell of ages. The bathroom was incredibly basic (no shaver point) though the water was piping hot, as warned on the notice. But for £45 B&B (to be paid in advance) one shouldn't really expect more.
