Visited this hotel on a 2 night break. We thought the hotel would be ok,but probably pretty basic, however it turned out to be one of the best hotel breaks we've had and a lot of that was to do with the friendliness and helpfullness of the staff, they were happy to chat and equally happy to leave you in peace, our first night was very quiet as it had been snowing therefore unless you had a 4 wheel drive, it was going to be a very difficult journey, however the second night was very busy the staff remained as charming and helpfull as the first night.
Food was excellent and served in good time.
High quality of decor in the rooms, owners are in the process of doing the hotel up which obviously takes time. Will definitely be back.

Nice room with a view of the loch. The staff were very friendly when we arrived but seemed to change when they were under pressure. The bar only holds 4 small tables so we sat in the dining room (the Bothy). We wanted to book a table for our evening meal but were told we didn't have to book & just arrive before 9pm, when we arrived at 8pm it was full and we were told we came too late! When we eventually got a table we waited to be served but were told we had to order at the bar, by now the staff seemed pretty harassed, in fact I'm still waiting for my sweet to be served. The worst part was dogs in the dining room, at one point while I was eating, one of the many dogs in the room was under our table, very unhygienic, I am a dog owner myself but would never expect to take it into a room where people were eating. When we arrived for breakfast nothing was set up, in fact the waitress still had her coat on setting tables. I must agree with the last review that the eggs were not properly cooked. Again a dog at the next table, have people not heard of dog sitters.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs because reception isn't manned & a bell rings constantly.

As above food on equal footing with wetherspoons at significantly inflated price. Room fab. Staff fab - although don't think they should allow scum to eat breakfast in pj's not good etiquette. Would stay again. Ps open your big bar asap . cook eggs in breakfast better raw eggs are bad.

Stayed here Friday and Saturday, honestly can not complain about anything! Reception, bar staff/dinner staff and breakfast staff all very attentive and friendly. We had dinner both nights and the food was really good as were the breakfasts. We had a room upstairs, it was clean and the bed very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Upstairs would be best.

We thoroughly enjoyed a couple of nights along with our dogs. Lovely setting and large room with a great view. The hotel is very dog friendly - there wee 12 dogs in the hotel on one night! Several were in the bar at once and it was lovely around an open fire with great conversation and friendly staff. All very clean. The breakfasts were fantastic and the rest I would descibe as good pub grub which is vey fitting for the setting. Will we be back? I think the question is when rather than if but woud not recommend in season when the road will be very busy!

Recently my husband and I stayed at The Rowardennan for a short winter break.
Given the time of year, we were expecting to be the only visitors there so we were pleasantly surprised to find several other couples there also.
Our room was clean & comfortable with a lovely view over the loch just as requested.
The bar & restaurant area were super with fabulous log fires in each.
Breakfast was well served & with various options to choose from and evening meals were all home cooked and most enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway.

I stayed here as a stop over on my way from Loch Awe, very friendly hotel. Bar was warm - lovely log fire where my dog curled up and went to sleep after a long day walking whilst I had some food - this was excellent and the barman very friendly.
Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. My border collie was welcomed in the room and in the bar area. The hotel is on the West Highland Way and handy for Ben Lomond too. Excellen
