“Lovely hotel and location. Not so good nights sleep.”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Just got back from a nights stay. The hotel and location was great but it was difficult to sleep on a 'double bed' made up of two single beds. Made for a very uncomfortable sleep. For the money paid I found this very poor. The fact it was two single beds put together also meant the bed squeaked anytime there was any movement. Would recommend the hotel but if I stayed again I'd insist on an actual double bed.

Great room, loved the design and the fact the bed faced an awesome view! Had breakfast on our balcony overlooking the loch. Short walk down the beach into Luss....great pub there called the Loch Lomand Arms. Resturant was good also, also steak wasnt quite as rare as we wanted. Great place to chill out and explore. Good pool also, great after a long day cycling!

Room Tip: I think most rooms have a great views, we were on the top floor which meant a really good view.

Visiting the restaurant only for the third time, this was a mistake but a confirmation that the staff and quality of food does not match the 4* which they have, though the accolade certificates are a few years old now.

Having checked that afternoon teas were on the menu this time, I and my friend arrived 1 minute before our 'booking' time of 3pm. to be told that it was not possible to see a menu as teas stopped being served at 3.30 and evening meals didn't start till 6h30!

The waitress's attitude was very much 'couldn't care' but took our order after listing what was available - very little in fact..
All that I was offered was a savoury cheese sandwich, my friend ordering her scone (a small one compared to the first we came here , cream and jam favourite (what I had brought her for) plus tea.

The food was uninspiring and £ 6.95 for a cheese sandwich - expensive.

Only when paying and complaining to the manager were we shown the evening menu - it wasn't inspiring either.

Yes the scone and cream was most enjoyable my friend said said, but hardly worth the trip from Glasgow, however, the the drive as always, was pleasant.

I agree with many other visitors to the restaurant, it's 'acceptable' if passing on to somewhere but I wont be recommending it to any of my friends.

Stayed for 3 nights in an upgraded loch view room. Stunning view from the balcony and the room was large with included sauna which we did not use. Room felt a little tired, the bed slightly uncomfortable and the balcony furniture was 'grubby'. Ate in the restaurant on the first night which again had a lovely view over Loch Lomond but the food is expensive and no better than average. The service was particularly poor and we were still waiting for our dessert to arrive more than 2 hours from entering the restaurant. Overall only worth paying the price if you must have the view - rest of hotel is very average for the price.

Room Tip: Must have loch view balcony to make it worthwhile stopping.

Lodge on Loch Lomond is located with a very beautiful view of lake. We stayed there for one night only but enjoyed a lot beauty of the place and surroundings. Staff should be more helpful.
Breakfast was good and we didn't had dinner here. The location and surrounding makes all the difference.

Staff did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome, we arrived at about three in the afternoon but they were still busy cleaning our room, so we had to wait fifteen minutes more before we could move in. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but stocked with very little. Also the toiletries in bathroom were not good quality, with no body lotion that I needed. It was a spacious room with balcony and sauna in our room which was nice as the weather was a bit chilly. We had dinner in the dining room, but the food were very expensive. We had the steak for two but were disappointed because the meat was a bit cold and not very tasty. The bill came to about £80 for the two of us with a bottle of wine, but with no starter or dessert. The next morning we had breakfast which was not included in the price, but that was quite good. Overall no big complaints but this is not good value for money. It is only the location that is exceptional with beautiful surroundings to take walks etc, but nothing more to rave about.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony facing the lake
