Just returned from a lovely lunch in The Shore House. On a wet Saturday afternoon we climbed the hill through Hells Glen and back down to Lochgoilhead. Although a twisty turn road, it obviously has been re surfaced and the journey was fine. We saw the sign for the inn and turned onto a side road which really did need resurfacing! Lots of pot holes, but a short drive and we reached our destination.
Access to the hotel is fantastic, even for wheelchair users and the staff very helpful. We ordered our lunch after drinks were brought to the table.
Our meal was beautiful! Tasty, warm and hearty. Nice sized portions. We both had soup, 2 different kinds. I couldn't resist the Cullen skink and wasn't disappointed. I had tagliatelle and my husband had a delicious stone baked pizza. I was gutted I had to decline the temptation of butterscotch cheesecake on the basis of being to full! I'll need to try that another time
Staff were attentive, friendly, pleasant and relaxed throughout our visit. And when the bill arrived, it was no shock.
Toilets were clean and fresh
A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
The only criticism is the approach road, even filling in the pot holes would be a help, however this may not be the responsibility of the hotel.
It was great to see Fyne Ales (local beer) being served in the bar! Can't wait to come back in the summer to sit in the beer garden overlooking the loch
Thank you

Thank you so much for your great review of the Shore House. So sorry about the potholes! Very wet weather and the volume of traffic take their toll. About 2 or 3 times a year we get the potholes filled and the track graded and this is going to happen again within the next few weeks. Unfortunately we do not own the the access track and we get no help with its upkeep. There is also a footpath to the Shore House from the village so that is an alternative to driving around the potholes if preferred. Anyway, please do come and see us again and if you like, just call us before hand and we will let you know how the track is. Let's hope for a lovely sunny summer so you can enjoy that fabulous view from our terrace.

We stayed at the Shore house Inn as part of a short stay in Scotland. The hotel and restaurant are of a high and homely standard and the food in the restaurant exceptional. The owners Mark and Gillian were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The view from the restaurant is like a postcard view over the loch and is a stunning backdrop. We will be staying again.

We had a family meal here, 15 of us ranging from age 4 - 84. We had booked in advance and had a lovely long table in the middle of the restaurant, which offered a lovely view of the loch. The food was out of this world, there was a choice of 2 roasts (beef or lamb) as well as the normal lunch menu, I had the beef and it was 3 huge slices, a yorkshire, and loads of veg and potatoes and my little one enjoyed her picnic platter. The waitress was attentive and ensured we had drinks throughout the meal.

We look forward to returning again when we next holiday in Lochgoilhead.

We have stayed in Lochgoilhead twice in the last 12 months and on both occasions visited the Shore House Inn restaurant. You always get good sized portions and every dish we have tried has tasted superb. The menu provides a wide range of choices along with the stone baked pizzas too. Local beers at the bar and a good selection of wines. The staff are very friendly and always make you feel welcome. The surroundings and view from the restaurant are superb.

A spur of the moment decision led us to the Shore House Inn. We were not disappointed! This is such a quiet, relaxing place which suited us so well for a wedding anniversary treat. Great hospitality, food and a beautiful room made it all just perfect. The web site is good and easy to use and provides accurate descriptions and photos of what to expect. Plan to stay here again and hopefully do not have to wait a year for our next anniversary. Thank you.

Room Tip: Only 4 rooms so we were very lucky at the last minute to have room 2, overlooking the loch - beautiful
