“Enjoyable short break at Drimsynie”
Reviewed November 5, 2004

Stayed for 4 days in a newly refurbished Osprey lodge. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and very comfortable. Electricity cost us £16 for the 4 days. Although the weather was not perfect (what could we expect in November?), there was plenty to do, and excellent scenery to see. Had two excellent seafood lunches at Loch Fyne Oysters - highly recommended. We will return, perhaps in the spring.

My family & I stayed at the Drimsynie estate in accomodation biled on their web-site as the ultimate in luxury!! These were the luxury lodges located right beside the road and were the most expensive at £495 for 1 week in April. We were told on arrival the cost of electricity for the week would be approx £15 on checkout they had the cheek to ask for £45. This was wavered after they read my comments sheet. I did expect a refund on my holiday or at least as good customer service a letter of apology - but after 12 weeks we still have had no reply. Do not expect luxury in these lodges. They were built in 1989 and still have the same couches and chairs and of course the mouldy shag pile carpet! The shower was filthy and mouldy, and the bath had a crack in it, the kitchen was stuffy, dusty & sticky - with food found in the cupboard that was one year out of date (obviously cupboard had never been cleaned). On arrival the valance sheet on the bed in the main bedroom had pink coloured sick on it and the bed sagged in the middle. We got a subsitute matress the next day which was just as bad. We were offered a free leisure pass - unfortunately this included the swimming pool which was constantly filled with unsupervised children even under the age of 8 - swimming in the pool by themselves, with no lifeguard!!! The rules were children were supposed to be supervised by adults but this was not policed. In the whole comples kids run amok shouting, swearing, and bullying other kids, it was unbelievable. We left early as I developed an eye infection, my daughter had developed a temperature, my son & husbands asthma was excacerbated by the damp accomodation. I would reccommend the caravans if desparate to stay here.

How disappointing to have to read such a negative review of your stay at Drimsynie earlier this year.

You as a customer have every right to complain. If you had such strong views why not either ask to speak to a manager at the time, rather than complain to a receptionist on departure, or even write a letter after you returned home. I have no recollection of a guest questionnaire with comments such as yours - if I had there would have been a reply.

Literally thousands of people enjoy holidays at Drimsynie every year. We get excellent feedback. You didn't enjoy your holiday, you made that clear. There is more to be gained by being up front with a holiday company rather than snipe at it via the internet.

Yours sincerely,

Leonard Gow,
Reservations Manager,
Drimsynie Estate.
