Very peaceful location just by the loch - with lovely views from the sitting room window. Clean and comfortable and well cared for, and with nice walks nearby. Basic supermarket nearby - need a car to get further afield.

“April escape”
Reviewed May 17, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We had a lovely few days at Bowater Cottage. It was comfortable, warm and clean with a fabulous view. The kitchen is well equipped and the wifi worked. Perfect views across the loch and walks with our dog Rupert who was also welcome. Len and Fiona are lovely helpful hosts and we will certainly be back. Thanks again!

“"Hidden Gem"”
Reviewed May 9, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

This little hidden gem is located just outside Drimsynie Estate. Great for chillaxing, but local attractions are easily accesible and within walking distance. The cottage is spacious and well equipped. It was immaculate and we were met by the owner who lives next door. They are on hand if needed, but are not intrusive. The cottage is well equipped and has everything you need. There is plenty outdoor space to enjoy the Scottish sun and the views are breathtaking. It offers fantastic value and is reasonably priced for it's high spec. Have already booked to return. Would thoroughly recommend.

“Trossachs Triumph !”
Reviewed April 19, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

An ideal location for exploring the Trossachs, complete with Loch and hillside view. Leonard was a friendly and helpful host who went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He is a keen walker and knows the surrounding area very well if you need any advise.
I can recommend staying here and I would like to return in the future.

“Fantastic base, great facilities, dog friendly”

We stayed in July 2016 with our Labrador puppy.

If you've never been to Argyll and Bute before, then the drive to the cottage on your first day of your holiday sums it up. You drive off the A83 (which is a drive up into the Arrochar Alps) into the glen, which is an adventure in itself. The road is single track (with passing places) and it is worth bearing in mind that even though it is not far to the cottage from the A83, it can take a while given you'll be restricted to 20/30 mph for your own safety!

The cottage is clearly signposted from the road that goes towards Carrick Castle and through the Drimsynie holiday park area.

The cottage is attached to the owner's home, but don't let that put you off, the owners left us to it, but are available should you need assistance throughout your stay. The bathroom is near the front door adjacent to the kitchen and is well equipped with a powerful shower, temperature is set at the boiler in the kitchen, so it just needs to be turned on. The bedroom has a well proportioned storage area nearest the door so you can unpack and store your luggage. The lounge has "freesat from sky" and a NOW TV subscription set up and ready for you to use. There is also a Draytek WiFi router in the kitchen that works in all rooms and the download/upload rates are excellent given the remote location of the cottage.

The kitchen is also well equipped with a full size fridge freezer, microwave, hob and oven.

The view from the cottage is excellent, the loch is clearly visible from the gravelled front area and from the lounge, there is a bench seating area and a pair of chairs and a table that can be positioned next to the patio doors for outdoor meals/entertaining.

One of the best things about this cottage.... The research that the owner has done for you. On your arrival you will find several packs of information.

The pack on walks goes through the options available locally, including the local one (you can get to it from the cottage in under 10 minutes) in the Cormonachan Woodlands which is great for dogs.

There is a pack on Argyll and Bute which has brochures and recommendations and other packs with specific sets of information. Based on the information in the cottage we planned our other visits around the area. This was a really great offering!

Just so you get an idea of how well placed this is to other areas, we visited the Isle of Mull (50 minute ferry from Oban which is a 1 hour 45 minute drive), Bute (4 minute ferry from Colintraive which is a 50 minute drive), Inveraray (~20 minute drive) and Loch Lomand (~30 minute drive). You can also walk to Carrick Castle in an hour from the cottage.

I would recommend this to friends and family. It was a great location with great views of the loch and even in the rain it was a beautiful location - why would you travel outside of the UK??

“Lovely, welcoming cottage with fabulous views”
Reviewed September 28, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed at Bowater Cottage for a week and had a fantastic holiday, needless to say, I have just booked to go again in October.
The owners, Leonard and Fiona Gow were most welcoming and are on hand if there is anything you should need.
The cottage was lovely and clean on arrival. It's situation makes it ideal for a quiet, relaxing holiday and has beautiful views over Loch Goil. Also, being pet-friendly, you can bring your pooch on holiday, the garden is safe and enclosed. It has everything you need to have a lovely time visiting this spectacular area of Argyll.
