We had a one night stay at the hotel, wish it was for longer. Lovely hotel, the room was clean and large, plenty of space. The views of the loch and mountains were stunning. Always ask for Loch view room, fabulous. Friendly staff, we ate in the bar and food was outstanding. The steak pie was really tasty, and the haddock was lovely. Good value for money. Really friendly locals, had a great night in the bar talking to them. Such a lovely hotel, we will be returning to the hotel such a lovely quiet place.

Room Tip: Ask for a Loch View Room.

We stayed here in June 2012 and were in the area again with my sister in law and decided to go for something to eat. The one member of staff was run off her feet dealing with food orders and presenting them to the table with people waiting for drink orders. Having said all that the food was superb, my wife and her sister had the Cullen skink and I had the sandwich and soup, they went down a treat.

Just back home from a 2 night stay at this hotel. We requested a doggy room and was amazed how lovely it was. It was a garden view room which is ideal for little dog walks early morning. The food here was really lovely and reasonably priced. Staff were lovely too, Alan the owner was very friendly and helpful with all the walks we can do, scenery AMAZING here.
We will definatly return to this lovely place with lovely people even the local bus driver was so friendly.
See you all again...., Sam, Billy & Enzo the springer

Thankyou very much for your lovely review. We are pleased you appreciated our recently refurbished < dog friendly > rooms , which are proving more popular than ever this year. The scenery is outstanding in Perthshire and local walks are particularly suited to dogs. We look forward to welcoming yourselves and Enzo back to the hotel.....hopefully later in the year.

Pleasant, well maintained bedrooom.Staff welcoming and friendly. Dog biscuits, poo bags and bowl provided for dog as well as outdoor access nearby. Food not so good. Choice between bar food which was ok but would not be worth a detour, or very overpriced restaurant food with small portions. Advantage of bar was that dogs allowed so convenient for us. Area very beautiful with plenty of interesting places and walks to enjoy. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay, but would not want to pay full price. We used a groupon voucher. Easy to get there from NE England.

We have just returned from a 2 night mid-week stay having used an itison voucher.

When booking we requested a room with a loch view which we got and the views from the room were gorgeous. The location of this hotel is ideal, being on the main road there was very little noise from passing traffic and plenty room for parking in the hotel car park. The biggest downside was that late at night it was dark and very difficult to see as there was no lighting outside.

The room itself was large and spacious, the bathroom was a little on the small side, however served its purpose for the 2 nights we were staying. When we arrived we found that the TV wasn't working so on our way out spoke to the lady at reception who said "Oh, I'm not good with TV's, the manager isn't back until tomorrow, maybe the chef can take a look at it". Wasn't quite the response I expected. As it turned out there was a transmitter problem and the TV's in all the rooms were off until the next day. The wooden box around the radiator was not fixed to the wall so every time I opened the curtains it fell on me, although the curtains were heavy enough to keep it in place if you didn't open them too far.

There are only a couple of hotels in the area and the nearest town is about 10 miles away so we ate in the bar the first night we were there, the food was average, we both had steak pie which was a bit watery and not very tasty, my partner then has sticky toffee pudding which was a bit hard around the edges (presumably from when it had been reheated). Having said that, for 2 main meals, 1 dessert and a bottle of wine we were only £40.

Breakfast on the first morning was very chaotic, there was only one lady in the breakfast room and she did very well to keep everything together because on at least 3 occasions the wrong breakfasts came out of the kitchen, the second day was better as there was 2 serving in the dining room. Having said this I couldn't fault the breakfast on either morning.

Probably the biggest downside for me is that this hotel allows dogs, which in the rooms is fine, but they are also allowed in the bar where people are eating.

This hotel is advertised on itison as £79 instead of £236 for a 2 night stay with breakfast, If I had paid £236 I would have been extremely disappointed with my stay however for £79 with the itison voucher I would say it is worth its money.

We arrived around 4pm to be greeted with "Got a voucher" and "is there a Saturday night supplement", the receptionist scrutinised our paper work before handing over the room key.

Would not regard this Hotel as disabled friendly with numerous steps outside and two flights of stairs inside. No lift or ramps.

Upon arrival at our room we were a little disappointed at the state of the bathroom. It certainly was not clean. The WC required cleaning, various soaps supplied had not been change/replenished since the last occupant. Cups and sauces had not been cleaned, dirty would be an understatement. (See uploaded photos) Management were informed, who offered free drinks in the bar while the room was cleaned again. While having drinks in the bar we had some doubt about the general cleanliness of the hotel and decided to eat out that evening.

We returned to our room still to fine that the soaps etc had not been replaced. Rooms lack sound proofing as we could clearly hear the occupant in the rooms on either side, where using the WC or watching television. The bedside light shade had been damaged and not replaced.

I was not sure if the ceiling in the room showed signs of ingress of water or badly painted over the smoke stains from years gone by.

The fire door at the top of the stairs, was a joke as the self closing mechanism was not strong enough to shut it when it was held open by the carpet, and thus remained open, unless physically closed by somebody.

I am well aware that electrical equipment needs to be tested, but not necessarily every year, but none of the equipment appeared to have been test as there were no label stating when they had been independently checked.

Breakfast was 8 am to 9.30 am. Normally used to breakfast time beginning later or even longer especially at a weekend as the case in the many hotels we have stated at in the past. But this appeared to be the norm for hotels in the area. What happened to that relaxing lie-in when on holiday.

And so to breakfast. Well the breakfast on the Sunday morning was quite good but not so on the Monday.

And just in case you were wondering we had vouchers and the price paid was probably in keeping with the standard. Would have been more annoyed if we had paid full price. Certainly will not be returning. The mistake we made was not fully checking Trip Advisor before we booked, especially the remarks by people who had given it a poor rating.
