The views from the room were magnificent, across the loch to the hills beyond. The room it's self(18) was in need of a coat of paint but was comfy and very big as it was a family room(3 single and 1 double bed in what was originally 2 bedroom spaces). We had a good nights sleep and the breakfast is the best quality I have tasted in a long time. There was unfortunately a mix up with our booking dates(our fault) and with staff telling us the room was not available for the 2 nights which meant we only stayed 1 night. The manager spoke to us in the morning ad offered to let us have the room but it was too late as we went online and booked another hotel for that night. The bar food and drink prices are very good as was the food, with measure at 35ml this is great value for money. I would suggest that the hotel is not for very young children as it is on a busy main road that needs to be crossed to get to the lochside.

Room Tip: Room 18 has lovely views, as do most of the rooms, and is not above the bar.

As with a lot of previous comments there are both Pro's and Con's. Listed below are those that we found on our 3 night stay at this Hotel which l hope will help and not deter you from staying.

Con's
1. On arrival there is no one present at the reception desk, we found the Manager in the Bar serving as it was open, not a major problem but first impressions count and would have been good to have someone there rather than trying to find him.
2. Thought that the Manager was a little to reserved and came across as a bit unfriendly, however, after a couple of days he was more out going, so must just be a bit nervious around new people.
3.The food served within the bar is very nice, however l felt that it was over priced as was the drinks. The menu is very limited.
4.This is an old building which has been refurbished, some of which looks like it has been done professionally i;e, Showers/Toilets however the painting could be better and looks a bit DIY. The hallways and doors banging and creaking can cause disturbance if trying to sleep and people moving around from the bar downstairs returning to their rooms.
5.Cleanliness in the rooms could be better, quite dusty.

Pro's
1.Location, directly opposite the Loch Earn, l can not say anymore than Superb.
2.Friendly bar staff and generally guests.
3.Central to many trips/sightseeing locations. Or just to use as a central location passing through.
4.Food good, plentiful and service was quick. Breakfast lovely.

So to summerise, lovely location, pleasant place that requires a little Tlc here an there which would greatly improve the Con's stated. Would l stay again Yes. Those points which were shown as poor did not ruin my stay and should be seen as a comment for improvement thats all.

Room Tip: Get a room away from over the bar area, we stayed in No3. Over looking the Loch wonderful setting.

Spent two nights through a Groupon deal and it was good value but was also glad we hadn't paid full price. The location is excellent, such an amazing view and easy to get to from Edinburgh/Glasgow. The room had recently been upgraded but still felt a little bit outdated! We ate in the bar both nights and the food was quite good but the tables were not cleared very quickly at all and there was quite a mess on the floor under our table, left over from lunch time. All in all a good weekend break but the owner/manager could do with a few people skills.

We got this on a kgb deal it was our first stay in the hotel and our first experience of a dog friendly room . The hotel is situated in a stunning location , the staff are friendly and very helpful , the rooms are clean and had plenty of space to put the dog cage in and the bathroom was huge ! The breakfast room is lovely over looking the loch and the food was superb ! The bar has a lovely atmosphere and dogs are allowed in which is a bonus, good crack and popular with the locals ! Only one negative was the portion sizes for the bar food they where a bit small . Overall a great weekend, met a lot of nice people and will most definetly be back

We stayed here on a 2 night deal. Picked this hotel because it was dog friendly and we wanted to take our dog. It was right on the loch and had the most amazing views of the loch and mountains.
The hotel was nice, the room was quite large with a huge bathroom and was very clean. The bar food was really good and we could take the dog in as well, although we sat outside as the weather was good. Breakfast was very good a great choice of hot and cold and the staff were nice.
All in all we had a really good stay.

Room Tip: the dog friendly rooms overlook the garden, so if travelling without a dog, request a loch view.

Stayed here a couple of weekends ago it was an itison deal and it was good value. I'd booked a family room for myself and my mother and we were both delighted to discover that there were 2 bedrooms so it was almost like an apartment. The main bedroom was large and comfortable with an ensuite bathroom and a side loch view. Whereas the room I had was small and drab but I think it's due to be refurbished. It didn't really matter as we were out most of the time so didn't spend too much time in our rooms. It was an added bonus having the 2 rooms and it just gave us that extra little bit more space. The breakfast was ok and it did the job of filling us up. The hotel is opposite Loch Earn and the view is amazing. The staff were friendly and polite and I would stay here again.

We stopped in for a meal on 13/6/2013 with our parents. Lovely food, nice staff and excellent surroundings. We cannot comment on what it is like to stay there, but if you are looking for somewhere to have a meal, then you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: only had food
