We had visited here before and stayed in the tepee, which we loved. On this visit the tepee was unavailable so we opted for the woodland log cabin, priced £80 per night. The setting is just gorgeous, and there is a restaurant and bar on site which overlooks Loch Tay. The cabin we stayed in (named Glen Lochy) was lovely- the bedroom had 2 sets of bunk beds but we opted to pull out the sofabed so we could sleep in the same bed. There was a woodburning stove for which complimentary firewood was provided on the first night (£9 for subsequent bundles) and the lovely cosiness and smell was definitely a highlight. The kitchen is well equipped, so all you really need to bring is bedding and towels (although we hadn't as it was an impulse visit, so the lady in reception kindly provided sleeping bags). There is also a TV with some freeview channels. Electricity cards cost £5 and one card should easily last 24hours.
All in all this was a great return visit and we will definitely be back. The village of Killin is a few minutes away by car and has a few nice pubs and restaurants (would recommend the Coach House).

We stayed in the tepees for two nights, we had the tepee plus at the end of the row of wigwams.

My husband chose here because we were going on a sailing lesson on the Sunday, which worked in perfect.

The check in was easy just had to pick up the key from a box. Map and directions round the site were easy to follow and the grounds were well maintained.

There is a pane on the door which must have been glass at one point which is now wood. From the outside the tepee looks like it needs a paint and freshen up to protet if from the winter.

Inside, electricity is operated by a £1 meter, which was fairly in expensive, we think we went through £6 in two nights and the heating was on most of the time we were in the tepee.

The layout of the tepee had the sofa facing away from the window so we moved it around so that the sofa was looking onto the TV and window.

The sofa bed wasn't that comfy but we slept in the bunk beds on night two and they were a lot better.

The bathroom as freezing unless you left the door open for heat to travel through.
Shower was fine enough, there was hot water.

The kitchen had mould and the fridge/freezer door fell off when you opened it. They did provide another fridge which was situated in the living room area and worked fine. Kitchen also had a kettle/toaster/ microwave which worked perfectly.
They also provided cutlery/ plates/ pots etc.

TV was a wee flat screen which worked fine.

There were some cobwebs and spiders but apart from that it was okay.

Overall - it's an upgrade from camping in winter as its warmer, could be done with some TLC - new furnishings, a good clean and a good paint.

Stayed in this charming, traditional Scottish cottage with a clear view to Loch Tay - beautiful and peaceful. Nearby was Ben Lawers, Killin, and Aberfeldy. Killin Golf Club is a wonderful 9 hole golf club, and one can hire clubs.

I recently won a competition for a 2-night stay in a wigwam at Loch Tay Highland Lodges, which we took at the weekend.
It was a fantastic setting, with lots of activities to do on site and loads of places nearby to visit.
We walked around the Birks of Aberfeldy, we went fishing on the Loch and took a boat trip on a rib.
The wigwam was clean and comfortable and good value for money. There are also lots of other accommodation options on-site; lodges, tepees, bell tents, bunk house, etc.
Facilities were very good; camp kitchen, on-site restaurant, clean toilets and showers.
Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Mo, who really looked after us during our stay.
We will be returning to Loch Tay Highland Lodges in the future.

I tell you right now this place is not for you. Just spent 3 nights here in teepee what a dirty place it was. Been to africa traveling for weeks on end and never stayed in any where as dirty as this teepee. Spiders cobwebs damp and the staff did not care about a thing in the site. When it come to cleaning it there was no care or time taken, On the 2nd day we where there we asked them to clean it and all they did was clean the cobwebs on to the floor and seats and left them there and just left the rest of the cobwebs they could not be bothered

place dont go

My partner and I spent two nights in the Ben Ledi tepee which was chosen because of its price but also the benefit of having it's own bathroom. Having stayed in a Wigwam several times before I thought this would be an upgrade but how wrong could I be!

The teepees look tired on the outside and are worse once you open the door. There is plenty of room and you get a lot for your money but the whole place was very run down and dirty.

There were two windows in the main room, one was overlooked by what I think was staff accommodation but has no blind and the others blind could only be adjusted by climbing on the sofa bed to reach it. The sofa bed was fairly new but I would be more comfortable sleeping in the car. The other bunk beds were dank and smelly.

The bathroom was very dirty and full of mould, I used to communal toilets a few times rather than use our bathroom. If you have a fear of spiders then do not stay in one of these! I nearly slept in the car and almost cried when I had to use the bathroom during the night - 7 spiders counted and it's not a big bathroom. Yuck!

The teepees need a really good clean and upgrade or in my opinion tearing down! They are not in a good location on the campsite and do not compare to the other types of accommodation which look lovely.

The rest of the campsite was very nice, the restaurant supplied very good food even if the staff needed a little training in how to serve the public. We hired a canoe from the loch front which was good fun and not too expensive.

Would stay again on this site but definitely would pay extra for a wigwam (although other reviews lead me to think they are dirty too). This campsite could be amazing if a little more time was spent on keeping it nice!

Room Tip: Don't stay in a Teepee! Would be more comfrotable in a tent!

I would strongly advise against a holiday here. The staff made us feel very unwelcome - we felt our presence was a hassle to them. Customer service is not a strong point. New management is required - ideally someone who knows the value of a smile. In addition, the accommodation is filthy. I feel very sorry for the owners of the private lodges as they will definitely be missing out on repeat bookings thanks to grumpy staff and sloppy maintenance. Worst holiday ever
