“A hotel for the price of a b and b”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

We stayed here for the final night of our 4 day break on the West coast of Scotland. My partner and I have stayed in Killin before and popped in here on our last visit for a couple of beers after we had been to see Finlarig Castle.

We arrived with our mothers, booked in and were shown to our rooms with the mothers getting help up the stairs with their bags. On entering the hotel we were amazed at how nice it was. This is a lovely home decorated to a very high standard with many original features in place, some stunning plaster work on the ceilings which enhanced the warmth of the building. The dinning room is immaculate, well decorated, there is a lounge with TV, piano, board games and a vast array of books to suit every taste and is a lovely place to chill.

We were shown to our room first (Lyon), which had a nice view over the hills, was well decorated, very comfortable and also a nice deep bath with shower. However when we went upstairs to the twin room (Katherine) which our mothers were to sleep in, we were stunned. The room was immaculate with 2 windows offering views of the hills and a huge bathroom.

We didn't eat as we had nothing since breakfast on Skye and it would've been another couple of hours before we could have eaten at the hotel, so we decided to eat in the village. However we did have a couple of beers in the bar which was lovely and traditional, with a good sized pool table, and a lovely friendly dog coming over for a stroke. They even had a chatty parrot in residence in the bar.

Breakfast the next morning was lovely and lots of it and if the evening meals were of the standard of the breakfast then we missed out.

There is a photo on the wall of the family and it would appear that this is a family run hotel. We found them all to be very friendly, accommodating and as myself and my partner always holiday in Scotland we will definitely be coming back here to stay.

Room Tip: Any forward facing room accommodates some lovely views especially the twin room at the top of the st...

We booked 2 nights to explore this area of Scotland. Be aware that this is not a hotel, but it is a very nice bed & breakfast. And while they were very accommodating, there were some problems. Their boiler was out, but they placed heaters in the rooms which made them quite cozy. As a working vacation for my husband, WiFi was a must for this trip. Unfortunately, it was not available in the rooms, and hit or miss in the restaurant/pub. It is in a great location for exploring the Killin area, the pub seemed to have a lot of local traffic, and the family dog was a cutey. So if you're looking to get away from it all it's perfect, but if you need to stay "connected", this is not the place.

A warm and friendly place that made us feel instantly comfortable. The little hand-drawn map of a suggested village walk was a nice touch, and there were lots of books in the bar, including mountain books, to whet the appetite for walking. Wet boots can be left to dry in the boiler room overnight. The bar has a real fire, a pool table and a discreet parrot.
Our room (Lochay) had plenty of space and a TV/DVD player. The views out to the river and fields were lovely. Next time I'd go for a room with a bath to soak in after the day's exertions.
If you're a weary walker, then you might not want to go 0.7 miles to/from the Falls of Dochart (and inn) in Killin but there are a couple of hotel bars to enjoy within easy strolling distance of the Coach House if you're staying a few nights.

This was our first time at the Coach House and we would happily return. We were made to feel welcome by all the family and the regulars, so felt very comfortable having a drink and food in the bar. The room was very clean and we had a great night's sleep.

Room Tip: The Lochay room is very spacious and quite despite being at the front of the building

stayed for one night with friends, lovely big room with magnificent views and massive 4 poster bed and huge jacuzzi bath - spotless. breakfast was served in lovely bright dining room. we also ate in the adjoining bar the previous night, excellent pub grub and to cap the night off there was a folk band playing - great night was had by all. run by friendly family. hotel is a short stroll into killin and the falls of dochart a magnificent sight. one very small negative comment - room very, very hot, we turned down the radiator in our room but they were on throughout the hotel, hall, dining room and bar - heating bills must be huge! certainly not a complaint, thoroughly recommend this hotel and plan on going back sometime

Room Tip: we stayed in the dochart room, friends in the lochtay room

We stayed overnight en route to visit our son and his wife in the Highlands. Friendly staff, the best beef casserole (bar meal) that I've had in years, superb wine list, clean and comfortable room, (& booking late we were in the non-en suite room - it was still excellent and thoughtfully appointed). A hard working family business, delivering on all fronts. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed one night .Very friendly owners and the room is spotlessly clean. Good quality pub grub in bar together with local beer and guest ales. Plenty of activites close at hand. Recommeded good value.
