“Cafe in front of a playpark? Expect children, people!”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Dreadful experience in Kidstons. Not my first visit, and should have learned from the sour reception previously. Great decor but too many tables and barely room to move. The cafe overlooks a new playpark, so why the dirty look when my friend and I arrive at a quiet time with my well-behaved baby in his pushchair? We were directed to a table for two beside a store room by the manageress and told that this would be the only place for the pushchair.....then asked to move said pushchair 5 times in an hour! We ordered (dry) fruit scones, tea and coffee. The scones were slapped down in front of us - our drinks followed singly, some time later. Had to pick a hair out of the jam too, which quells the appetite somewhat. I almost managed to finish my tea before the table was cleared, despite being one of only two occupied tables in the place. There are plenty of more welcoming places in Helensburgh to go to....or take a picnic to the park. But Kidstons? Avoid.

“Great location”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

We stopped here a few times over the last few months. Sometimes just for a drink, sometimes for a bite to eat. My son loves the hot chocolate drink with marshmallows and cream.

“brilliant!!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

i went there on thursday and sat on the balcony which was a lovely change as the weather was surprisingly good, we sat on the decking overlooking the clyde and was greeted by friendly faces, we ordered the chicken burger with lemon mayonnaise and the beef burger. I tried some on my friends beef burger and wasn't sure if id made the right choice off the menu as i wasn't sure if anything could top it! but 10/10 for the chicken burger also! we spoke to a couple who had traveled from balloch and they said they go there at least once a month when they get the chance after discovering it in early december. I will most DEFINITELY be back soon as staff couldn't have done more for us!

“Awful staff”
Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

I have been here many times with and without children.the young girls that work in here are lovely.however there is an older lady along with then man who walks about tutting when i have children in.children who are sitting eating ice cream or drinking their juice..talking /giggling like kids do.i find some staff attitude awful. Secondly i find it disgusting especially as you can see the kitchen prepping area that the staff making food are eating As they do it..many times seen cutting up cucumber some for the mouth some for plate etc..not washing hands then going in to make scones/bread rolls etc.don't eat food whilst making it for your customers who can see you.that is disgusting On a positive they serve nice hot drinks and the majority if the staff are very friendly however if this happens again i will be saying something to management
