“Desperate Dan pie”

If you like a BIG pie then you will not be disappointed with the best dish on the menu.
Super size and super quality.
Service is top class and very friendly and the special 2/3 course menu is fantastic quality at £8/ £10 pounds.
It is perfect sitting at the coal fire on a cold day looking across the bay and even better if the weather is sunny when you can get a seat outside in the beer garden.

“pure dead brilliant.”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

I went with two friends on Saturday night, although it was very busy the service was excellent. The blonde manageress had obviously organised her staff as the service was superb. Both my friends had steaks which were perfectly cooked and delicious, compliments to the chef.

“Average meal”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

Not the best eperience, went for evening meal with colleague after long journey, crying children is never something i want to listen too when away from home on business. Chose a pasta dish of the specials but overcooked, i do tend to avoid pasta when eating out but didnt really fancy anything else of the menu, very meat based and no interesting salads which i really fancied. Not my cup of tea.

“Delicious food at a very reasonable price”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

My mother and I went in for a meal on Friday 11th Jan to be greeted by a very cosy and welcoming wee restaurant. Considering it was a busy Friday night the staff were very attentive and helpful whilst we were there. We both ordered the chicken and mushroom pie in an applewood cheddar sauce which was absolutely fantastic and the portion size was great as we certainly did not go away hungry. For both the main meals and a large glass of wine and a coke it came to £22 which was very good considering the night before we paid £60 at another restaurant and it was a major disappointment. Very impressed with staff as they checked up on us during the meal and made sure our drinks were topped up when needed. The only thing i noticed was the staff were wearing jeans under their pinny which looked a little casaul but their attitude was anything but that. Great stay and excellent meal!

“Great for families, couples etc”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

This is the only main, large place in Helensburgh to dine. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and attentive. It has a great beer garden overlooking the water to visit in the summer months although can get quite busy and overcrowded on warm sunny evenings.
