Went on Friday to this gem of a place for a birthday celebration and had an excellent time. Well priced, exquisite food and friendly staff means we will returning again soon. I had mussels for a starter and then veal bolognaise for a main course with a bottle of Bardolino. Could not fault anything, the food was absolutely delicious with an authentic Italian taste, best Italian meal since holidays this summer in Sorrento. Well done!

My wife and I dined here a few weeks ago. We had dined here some time ago before new management. I noted there seemed to have been no change of decor, same old curtains, tablecloths etc. and paper napkins which is a big no, no when charging these sort of prices! The food was also disappointing. Salmon dish with 3 very small boiled ( boring) potatoes, 1 baby corn, 2 slices of carrot and some sauce was overpriced and spaghetti dish was uninspiring to say the least. Staff issues, too many, there are only 8 tables and there were 3 waitresses! They were all very pleasant but none were experienced and it showed. Checking if customers are enjoying their meal is a must, but not by 3 different servers, one experienced operator could have coped no problem, and that is why they were falling over each other! If you are charging these prices ALL these points must be addressed. Last but not least, do something about your heating, we couldn't have sat any longer without frostbite setting in...No joke. Nothing worse than a cold restaurant, it hardly encourages you to linger for a coffee or bottle of wine!

Our first visit back after many years and we were suitably impressed. With Raf at the helm think this little gem will be a winner. Lovely tasty food and great service. Veal cannelloni I'm still dreaming about and our girls loved the mussels. Definately will be back.

We had the Goat cheese with Caramelized onions for starter, Veal Cannelloni as entree and was absolutely impressed with both. Will definitely eat here again soon!

I was really looking forward to this restaurant opening under new management however I was really disappointed. The staff were welcoming and pleasant however each one of them asked regularly if everything was ok. In fact they all asked at every course, interrupting conversation. This was annoying. The food was, at best, mediocre. Adding mixed lettuce and supermarket chillie dipping sauce to 5 prawns does not warrant the price of the starter. The prawns in a friends prawn cocktail were rubbery and tasteless. Mains were disappointing. Coffee cups were whipped away before we indicated that we wanted to pay which was not the norm for a restaurant. Made us think they wanted rid of us even although it was early. Unfortunately it has the same seats as before being taken over, which are so uncomfortable that you don't want to spend the entire evening there, so we went to the Commodore for a nightcap instead. There is now so much competition in Helensburgh that they will really need to up their game to compete. Wine was well priced.
