A nice place to stay a warm atmosphere good food and a great location - we were a group of 27 on a cycling holiday and we loved it - the magnificent house has a tired look from outside but belive me it is a gem and an experience I hope we can repeat - I understand some of the rooms are small but we had a family room which was huge. The staff a mixture of scots and europeans were outstanding - we cycled the Tossachs and Lomond Lomond and had a fabulous time in an area rich in history -where ever we went there was a warm welcome and great food in the pubs and cafes in the surrounding villages and visitor centes - there are no tv,s in the rooms and the
(slow) free wi fi is only accessible from the reception area - a hidden gem with stunning views

I have stayed in Gartmore House many times, the last time was in September. The drive there is beautiful and is a foretaste of what is to come. It is a splendid house which can accomodate from one to four in the generous size bedrooms. It is fair to say that it is a little tired and would benefit from some investment but it is comfortable and warm with an open fire in the evenings. I organised a quilting retreat on a full board basis with coffees and home-baking in between meals. The food was wholesome and varied. Staff are attentive and courteous. You will not be disappointed with the views from many of the bedroom windows. You can see the Wallace Monument on a good day. There is a small bar open the evenings. We shall return in the Autumn.

If you fancy staying in a grand stately home without paying the earth Gartmore House might be the answer. The house is impressive, set up a long drive with views all the way to Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. However, the place is very tired! Our room was grand, but the furnishings were old and worn and decor very tired. The facilities are limited to tea and coffee making - no TV or radio (maybe a blessing). There was plenty of hot water in the bathroom, which was nicely fitted out, but with paint peeling off the walls. Breakfast was good - a good selection of hot and cold items. If you are looking for sumptuous luxury, this is not the place to go, but if you want something a bit different at a good price and don't mind it it being a bit tired, then it's ideal. I would go back again as a great value place to escape to.

My daughter and I toured Scotland for three weeks using trip advisors reviews, and every one of them were more than satisfactory. We spent two nights at Gartmore(24th and 25th August 2010) and were treated as Royalty, the food was great and plenty of it . We had the room immediately above the front entrance and it was fantastic. Surprisingly, our stay here turned out to be one of the cheapest B&Bs of our holiday we will definately be returning. Our thanks to all the staff.

Gartmore House is not a hotel and if that's what you are looking for don't go. There is no bar, no tv's/ internet in your room and you entertain yourself!
What you get is a warm comfortable bedroom with an en suite toilet/shower in a spacious 18th century mansion situated in lovely grounds. The staff were most hospitable and the breakfast excellent! . A refreshing experience and great value if you don't mind some chipped paintwork!

We had a one night stay in Gartmore House near Aberfoyle. It lies in a beautiful peaceful location on wonderful parkland. Our room was huge and clean with clean modern bathroom. The house itself is historic and granted was a bit tired looking around the edges. Good breakfast and helpful staff.

I found the Gartmore House online at Laterooms.com and thought I had found a deal. While the location of the House is gorgeous and the entrance rooms to the mansion are maintained, the rooms themselves are lacking. I was expecting it to be one of the most luxurious nights of our cycling trip (on a tight budget) and instead, got a shabby room with stained bedding and tape holding up the bathroom curtains. I was disappointed. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly, but overall I felt rather let down.
