We’ve just returned from our second stay at Templelea Farm Cottage and are pleased to say that nothing has changed. The cottage was clean, cosy and well equipped. The beds are also extremely comfortable.
The property is very spacious, with lovely views out to the back of the garden and surrounding fields and at the front you have the beautiful Campsie Fells.
The wifi was quicker than we are used to at home too.
The area is very peaceful and the location is perfect for walking in and around Aberfoyle and Loch Lomond.
For easy to follow marked out walks, the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park in Aberfoyle is ideal and is only about 15 – 20 minutes drive away. The Visitors Centre have maps or if you park just outside Milton, there are maps that can be taken from the information board.
We would love to go back to this cottage, it gives us everything we could want and we haven’t seen anywhere else in the area that comes close to providing the space, peace and perfect location.
This cottage, being a family house, makes you feel at home. It's probably even better than home: luxury mattresses, fine furniture, large rooms, comprehensive equipment and linen, quiet and beautiful environment... This house boasts everything you want to spend a perfect holiday. It is also ideally situated for Loch Lomond attractions, Aberfoyle/Callander/Loch Katrine walking paths as well as the Stirling area.
This cottage is definitely a couple of notches above all self-catering places we have used so far.
Don't be misled by its external appearance. Inside it is surprisingly spacious and whereas some holiday lets may be considered basic, Templelea Farm Cottage is high-class with excellent fixtures and fittings throughout. Sufficiently set back from the A811, with ample parking and far enough away from working farm buildings it provided us a perfect base for exploring the area's lochs and glens whilst a short drive to Alexandria or Milngarvie railway stations allowed off-peak return into the centre of Glasgow.
Charming owner Jeanette visited to make sure all was satisfactory, but the cottage was superb in every aspect.
Jenn and I holidayed with son Chris and his wife Lorna visiting from Singapore and thoroughly enjoyed our week at Templelea..
Very good holiday and a lovely house with everything you need. It is close to lots of walks and good food shopping
A beautiful and very clean farm cottage..situated in a very quiet and traquil place..equipped with Everything you need..from COOKING,EATING AND SLEEPING.is far beyond my expectations;truly worth the price..will definitely recommend to friends and relatives...Thanks again for a lovely stay!
The cottage is immaculately presented with spacious rooms and a lovely homely feel. The location is superb, with easy access to the Trossachs, Loch Lomond, Glasgow, Stirling and beyond.
We visited in October, and the cottage was warm and welcoming, with plenty warm bedding, towels and a well equipped kitchen.
Loch Katrine is under half an hour away with stunning scenery and a relaxing trip on the Sir Walter Scott. Further afield is the Rennie Mackintosh Hill House in Helensburgh, and the many attractions in Glasgow such as the Science Centre, Transport Museum, and Kelvingrove museum to name but a few (we took the train from Balloch, but it is an easy drive). Stirling Castle is also very handy and well worth a visit.
All in all a lovely cottage to base yourself at with so much to do on all directions.
Everything we needed for a most comfortable and relaxing holiday. The location was ideal for a family wedding at nearby Killearn whilst Glasgow and the Southern Highlands were within easy reach. Our teenage grandchildren loved the 'hands on' Glasgow Science Centre and the Riverside Museum of Transport. Sorry to leave.
