Had a meal here after day 1 of the west highland way. The food was very good and it has a nice atmosphere. My friend had hurt her ankle, the staff were very helpful and provided a bag of ice. Overall I would say they could have been a little more attentive in terms of offering drinks etc. but no major complaints.

We have been here several times as the food is good and the setting is picturesque. We have never been overly impressed with the service , but having gone in tonight for some dinner we were appalled by the poor, inattentive service. We sat down, waited for ages then had to ask for the menu. Once we decided on what we were going to eat, we waited and waited as staff rushed past us ( no idea why as the place wasn't busy). We hung on for 15 minutes feeling quite ignored then we got up and left. You get the feeling that you are a bit of an inconvenience to them. We won't be going back.

At first glance the Oak Tree looks old and traditional but a closer inspection reveals a good deal of carefully placed shabby chic to create the atmosphere. It is still a cosy place for a well-earned rest however. Food was good, but not really more than that, although portions were very reasonable and certainly more than enough to sate most people's appetites. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again but would happily drop in if in Balmaha.

Stopped here for lunch on a rather overcast day, but the warm welcome and the cosy atmosphere were very pleasant.
The food was very tasty and the staff were helpful without being pushy.
The one thing that is a massive plus point is the fantastic view.
I will definitely be back on a sunny day is it would be breath-taking.

My wife and I were out on our boat on the Loch Lomond , we were staying the night on the boat and decided to stop off and get something to eat , on walking onto the INN no one welcomed us , it was left to us to find a table , menus were then dropped on table and came back took orders , had to keep asking where our drinks were , starters arrived and when we finished the starters the plates were left on table for at least 20 mins before someone bothered to take them away , main meal wasnt that much better , staff need servere retrianing on customer services, we felt we were a hinderance to them by asking for drinks and food etc , the two folk that were serving didnt smile once , it was obvious that they didnt want to be there or they didnt want the customers there , its just a shame that Tourists will leave with the wrong impression of Scotland after going here , prices were very high as in crazy tourist prices because almost everything on menu had the word Scotland in it ...avoid
