“Murder Mystery stay”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We stayed one night for a murder mystery weekend which was absolutely brilliant and I would certainly recommend.
Check in was very quick and smooth and we were given our room key. The staff at this hotel are excellent, very friendly and happy, the bar area is very cosy and the food is very good.
The only complaint I have is that the rooms really could do with a lick of paint and a bit of a face lift to make it worth the money, the beds are very hard, and the shower is a trickle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with walk in shower as this works better than the shower over the bath.

A hotel with plenty of atmosphere, thanks to the helpful and friendly staff (the log fires helped too), offering good food and excellent value for money. It used to rest in the shadow of the Buchanan Arms in terms of popularity but now seems to have overtaken it and I would certainly recommend it over the other. The main gripe for us was noise late at night on the Friday. This was caused mainly by a large party celebrating outside in the open air conservatory up to 0200 (although the hotel closes at midnight one of the party unlocked the back door again). It was also caused by creaking corridor floors and, to be fair, because our room was right next to the exit door. All things to consider if you are there overnight at the weekend. Other, more minor issues included the slippiness of the bathroom floors, the lack of a bath mat and the soap dispenser not being topped up in 2 days. All easily rectified I'd have thought as would the fitting of a mattress cover! However, these do not detract from a very pleasant stay and we will return.

Room Tip: Try and get a room distant from the conservatory (weekends and summer) and at the end of a corridor...

We stayed here for one night for a Murder Mystery evening. Had a great time, good food, good accommodation and the best laugh I've had in a long time. Would heartily recommend this venue and can't wait to go back.

we have just stayed for two nights at the winnock. First of all we were allowed into our room before the three o`clock check in which was good. We were attended to by a very friendly receptionist Tracy. On entering our room we were surprised a the sive of it.very spacious with a double bed and a single bed!! Also there was a sofa plus chair as well as dressing table and drawers etc, well equipped bathroom wth bath and shower.
The menu for evening meal was very good and was well presented. It was very well served to us by the waitress the olvel Laura C!! a charming and bubbly girl. The breakfast ws equally good and there was a vareid selection to suit all tastes. All in all this hotel ofers great value for money with a very friendly welcome from all members of staff. We would stay at this hotel again in the future without a doubt.Well done the Winnock and keep up the good work!!

Great weekend away which was organised through Glow.

The bedroom was a good size with a good size bathroom, although the bathroom was in need of some slight repairs.

Couldn't fault the food it was great with plenty of choice and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Two nights of some great entertainment from two local singers Des and Louise

My only disappointment were inconsiderate guests that were unable to close their doors quietly when returning to their rooms late at night, the noise seemed to carry through the corridors which kept me awake !

Room Tip: Pick a room in the newer part of the hotel.

Had it not been for a recommendation I would not have even known about this beautiful, friendly relaxing country hotel.
The staff at the hotel are so friendly and helpful, Calum and John really made us feel at home. The room was beautiful, it had a great view looking over the village square!
The food is amazing, so much to choose from and cooked to perfection! Nothing was too much trouble!
My only complaint is that we only stayed for 1 night, can't wait to come back and visit you all again.

Don't know why people use Trip Advisor to moan about places/hotels, I've just had a fantastic couple of days staying at this hotel, excellent food, couldnt fault it any way. Went as part of a all inclusive package organised by the delightful Sean @ Glow and would definitely recommend it, got a four-poster bed room which didnt expect, bathroom's are very small, but to be honest how long do you need to spend in the bathroom, it is after all a base to spend the night.
