“great B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

We spent 2 very comfortable nights at Dunfraoich House. We had a warm welcome from owners Matt and Louise, the accomodation is very clean, comfortable and cosy and tastfully decorated. A large range of breakfast food awaited us each morning together with charming service from Louise. As we ate our breakfast we watched the mist rise to reveal a wonderful view of the mountains opposite. We used this place as a base to visit Kilmartin Glen - this is a place rich in pre-historic sites, the stone circle at temple woods being one of my favourite places in Scotland. Crianlarich is a great base to explore central Highland Scotland, we will visit again. J&J Dundee

Stayed 2 nights at Dunfraoich House on a walking weekend and was great to have a fantastic B&B to come back to. Lovely house and tasteful rooms and the owners were extremely nice and helpful. Used the option of a homemade packed lunch to take walking and grateful for it! Also has a drying shed for any wet clothes. Highly recommend the Dunfraoich House.

Dear Gareth P,
Thank you for your lovely comments and so glad you enjoyed your walking holiday here at Dunfraoich House. We love having the drying room, it's soo lovely being able to put your feet into dry walking boots for a second day of exploring the mountains in the area. We hope to see you back at some point. There is a sleeper service from London to Crianlarich which means you could jump on the train Friday night in London and be up here ready for a weekend's adventures in the Highlands after a hearty breakfast at Dunfraoich House on the Saturday morning. No cars needed as soo many walks are within easy access of the house! Hope your back is feeling better.

Couldn't agree more with the other reviews - tasteful, friendly, great value, spotless, with generous and tasty meals. It was a real treat after some far more expensive and less charming B&Bs elsewhere.
Really highly recommended (by quite a fussy traveller).

Dear Lauren M,
Thank you for your lovely comments and really glad you enjoyed your stay at Dunfraoich House. It is great to see empty plates at the end of a meal and we love cooking using as much locally sourced produce as possible. The Bonnie Cranachan dessert really does seem like a winner. Hope to see you again at Dunfraoich House,
Louise

Spotlessly clean and recently renovated. Breakfast was great with a good choice of options. Hosts were friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. I would highly recommend this B&B.

Dear S. M,
Thank you for your lovely comments. Glad you enjoyed your stay here at Dunfraoich House. The whole house has been completely renovated by us over the last 2 years and it is great to be able to create rooms with all the comforts of home but in our unique setting up here in the mountains. We believe it is important to be able to offer a wide selection of breakfast options as breakfast is the the best meal of the day! We really enjoy sourcing and experimenting with local, seasonal produce to create an array of yummy breakfast options which can meet many different dietery requirements. Our bacon and sauages are all from outdoor reared pigs and our eggs are from our own free range chooks in the garden. Really glad you enjoyed your breakfast and we hope to see you again at Dunfraoich house.
Best wishes, Louise

Excellent service in this highland hideaway, yet its so accessible.

Enjoyed a homebaked full breakfast in the lounge, with a view out to mighty Ben More, with a Golden Eagle circling above.

Will call again!

Dear bicycing,
Really glad to hear you enjoyed your stay here on your way to the West Coast. The views out to Ben More are fantastic, it is amazing to see them change over the year, especially during winter when the setting sun bathes the Mountain in the most gorgeous colours. Fantastic to hear you saw a golden eagle, we had deer at the back of the garden yesterday and it is lovely to see such amazing animals up so close. Hope to welcome you back at some time soon.
Best wishes, Louise

We recently spent three nights at Dunfraoich House and received the warmest of welcomes. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts from the wide choice of freshly cooked breakfasts to the delicious suppers, made from high quality, locally sourced produce. Our bedroom was stylishly furnished with comfy beds and a fantastic private bathroom, where we were able to luxuriate and pamper ourselves with the complimentary posh products. There were wonderful views from our bedroom as well as from the cosy guests` sitting room, where we relaxed before supper, after a hard day`s walking on the West Highland Way. it`s a really convenient base for this, as you can access the Way from the back of the property. We did this on the first day, but the next day we decided to walk down to Crianlarich railway station (about 5 minutes away) and caught the train to the next stop, got the ferry boat over beautiful Loch Lomond and walked back north on the West Highland Way. Our reward, back at base, was a short stop at the local hostelry.
There`s plenty of space for parking, but one of our group had come separately by train, which was easy to do as the station is so close by and useful for day trips further north.
Can`t wait to go back next year.

Dear Lillybelle_12,
Really glad you enjoyed your stay here with us at Dunfraoich House. We have had a lovely busy summer here and it has been great to meet so many friendly, lovely people. So glad you enjoyed the food and comfy beds. There is nothing quite like feather and down duvets and egyptian cotton sheets! Since your stay we now have a range of local organic toiletry products for sale in the guest lounge for people to take home as a pressie. We are looking forward to exploring some more of the many walks in the area over the winter with the dogs. We hope to see you again here at Dunfraoich House.
Best wishes, Louise
