Stayed one night with my wife (and 2 dogs in our car) found the owner very pleasant and room very nice. Great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was superb with all cooked to order. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful location. I will definitely stay there again

This was the last day of our honeymoon and we arrived at this B&B after having travelled down from the borders of Skye, so we were very tired. Sandy made us feel very welcome, and our room was very cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was just lovely,as was the ambience of the breakfast room, with gentle Scottish music playing in the background, and the wonderful location,it's a shame we had to come home. Scotland is a beautiful country, and we were glad that our last memory of it, was such a positive one. We will definitely visit the Riverside Guest house again. From Fiona and Martyn Davies. I ended up at Riverside B&B Crainlarich out of desperation. I had been very rudely addressed on the telephone before I arrived, and when I did arrive the grumpy host was obviously not impressed that I had chosen to return her telephone manner. I was greeted with a forced smile and ''I heard you the first time'' referring to my ringing the doorbell twice as I couldn't hear it, a jibe about the earlier telephone conversation, was given no assistance with my belongings or instruction such as breakfast etiquette, front door lock up time, or shower operation, no local area advice and had to ask for my room key. If I didn't already feel horrible before I arrived, I certainly felt awful and very unwelcome upon arrival. When I had difficulty with the room key and asked for assistance I was made to feel unreasonable for wanting to lock my door whilst showering in the first place (ummm iPad, iPhonex2, digital camera, wallet, passport etc.). Short of having eyes rolled at me, I was barked the supposed technique to get the key to lock, and warned ''Not to break the key''. After numerous attempts I had to ask for assistance again, this time if I could be shown. After much huffing and puffing and accusing me of jamming the lock, I was shown the technique. I also asked for an alternative place to charge my iPad and telephones etc., as the power points in the room were so close to the floor I could not fit the chargers with adapters into them. Again after much huffing and puffing at being disturbed, I was told I could ''Do it in there" with finger pointing at the common dining area open to the front door - so much for personal belongings security. I didn't seem to be able to get any network service in my room in any case. I also asked for any suggestions for places to run the following morning. Again short of eyes rolling at me, I was offered ''No, none, there's not any good tracks'' and later found out the West Highland Way was almost right on the doorstep!!! That was it for me. I drove back into town, and thankfully there'd been a cancellation elsewhere and I booked in. I returned to Riverside to pack up and advised I was happy to pay for the shower I had taken when I arrived (I was at the B&B for no more than 1 hour) and was promptly told ''10 pounds'' with a ''We've never had any complaints about the key or wifi before''. I wasn't about to discuss the reasons for my prompt departure or waste my constructive feedback on such a negative, miserable, unprofesional person. No wonder this was the only place with a vacancy when I arrived in Crainlarich!!! Agree with the previous review, time to retire! Stay away if you don't want to ruin all of the other fabulous B&Bs and Scottish hospitality you've experienced.

We stayed here on our way to Harris- fabulous breakfast, comfortable rooms and friendly host. perfect-just what we needed after 8 hours driving Could walk dog down to the river too and let her run around the garden- she slept in the car as that's where she's happiest in our big estate. Highly recommended and hope to stay again in August as we head to orkneys. Thanks!

Luckily this was not our last night in Scotland as we would have left completely disgusted by the Scots! We got confused with the timing, thinking we were supposed to arrive at the B&B at 7 pm, but we arrived 30 minutes earlier at 6.30 pm. However, our host, Janice, had emailed us to arrive no later than 6 pm. It was a misunderstanding of course (we waited for 2 hours in a pub beforehand thinking we could not get there before 7!). Anyway, Janice first said, very rude, that she could not take us, but finally agreed to hand us the keys and show us our room. That's about all she did! No smile, no welcome, just a rude "you're late!", no advice and when I asked if she had Wi-Fi, all answer I got was: "you'll find the paper at the reception". How nice! Especially since this is supposed to be a B&B and not a hotel! The room was not a twin as we had asked for, but a double bed and a single bed, not space at all in the room for luggage and we found a dirty towel hanging behind the bathroom door. Janice said in a very bossy way that breakfast was between 8 and 9 am (not much room for holidays there!) and that we had to be back by midnight or the doors of the house would be shut! Breakfast was on order only, no buffet, industrial jam, etc. In a whole, do not go there unless you want to be welcomed by a very rude person who should change jobs!! Some people should just not open a B&B as it gives a bad image of their country. It's really a shame because the area is beautiful, lovely views, but we felt like we were in prison, not on holiday!!
