Stayed here for two days due to business trip in 29-31 Jan 2013. DB&B rates were excellent although perhaps due to being off-season. Excellent location, traditional decor on arrival/downstairs.
Good food, roaring fires and excellent staff.
There was some painting going on during stay which is encouraging to see as my room needed updating, especially bathroom/shower.

Good points:
-Staff
-Nice restaurant,
-Good food
-Lounging areas.
-Ideal location

Bad points:
- Shower

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of hotel have better views of surrounding coutryside

Thank you for your valued feedback and am delighted your recent stay with us here in Crianlarich. As you clearly identified, the hotel is currently undergoing a make over which will be taking in a number of the bedrooms. This will include painting, new fabrics and upgrading bathrooms where possible. We like to offer very competitive rates to ensure clients come back again and again. I trust we will see you back in the very near future. Kind regards, John Carpendale - General Manager.

Let me start with the negatives because there aren't that many and they only refer to the bedroom we stayed in, Room 226 [a Mountain View room].

Although the room is of a decent size with a very large Super King bed, the other facilities are in need of improvement namely the bathroom or more specifically the shower over bath. It really does need to be more than a trickle!

The second is the TV; the fact that it is on the small side isn't the problem but the lack of channels and no guide is a problem. I'm just wondering why the hotel can't get 'freeview' like almost everywhere else in the UK.

Thirdly, the easy chairs could do with being armchairs or at least chairs with arms. Sitting in a low chair without arms is not something you don't want to do for long! That's it, gripe over.

Let's turn now to the rest of the hotel - it's excellent!!

The public areas are nice and cosy and the two dining rooms likewise, though the main dining room [as opposed to the breakfast room] is a delightful place to eat. It's old world charm with log burner are great as is the food served in it. I honestly cannot praise the food enough both in terms of it's quality, quantity and overall presentation. Of course the whole experience is enhanced by the waiting staff who are not only courteous but friendly too. They are without question an asset to the hotel. Indeed, the management are also 'hands on' and very welcoming and friendly which they should continue to do.

In conclusion there are only two pieces of advice I could offer the General Manager, one serious and one not so. The serious one is to restrict small children from the bar area, after say 8pm [they can not only be a nuisance but also a danger to themselves, guests and staff] and the second is for him to wear Scotlands National dress on functions such as Burns Night - although the writer was not 'kilted up' because he's too fat, it would have been nice to see the GM in such attire.

Finally fellow travellers, if you don't make the Crianlarich Hotel your destination for a Scottish break, you really are 'missing a trick'!!!!

Many thanks for your valued feedback and comments regarding your recent visit with us. I will certainly take on board your issue regarding the times children should vacate the bar area. Regarding me wearing Highland Dress...............I do have one, but as an Englishman dressed in Scottish tradition may offend some patrons..............but will do next year. So you must come back and see this for yourselves. Kind regards, John Carpendale, General Manager

We've stayed here a few times over the last two years. We'd previously avoided the hotel as it had the look of a 'lochs and glens' location from the outside. There are a lot of positives in the hotel at the moment, and its clear the team in place are trying to bring the hotel up to a high standard.

Positives:
- The staff are excellent and really friendly. We normally fly up after work from London on a Friday, and especially this weekend, that has meant we can arrive pretty late. They've been excellent at letting us after normal reception hours.
- The snug bar is really nice to sit and look at the hills from and has a good stock of Whisky and ales.
- The food is excellent - its pretty clear to see why its won numerous awards over the last four years.
-There is a good drying room & the staff are aware of walker's needs (and odd habits!)
- The theme evenings they have begun are excellent value, we attended a Whisky tasting with an excellent host and great three course meal for £30 each
- Crianlarich is a pretty good base to get to a number of munros/ corbetts from.
- They have a pretty good social media presence (facebook) and you can often get great deals for the room.

Downsides
- It seems odd, espcecially in the cold weather, that the fire in the guest's lounge isn't on
- The room decor can be a tad basic, but it looks like they are upgrading the rooms.
- I think due to the age of the building, sound can travel from one room to the next.

Really looking forward to coming back here - the staff seem committed to really bringing the hotel up to full spec.

Thank you very much for your positive and encouraging feedback. I am delighted you felt that the hotel represented excellent value and our service and hospitality is with your approval. I must apologise about the lounge fire and we do our upmost to keep this lit but unfortunately it's very temperamental! You are correct in the assumption that we are refurbishing many bedrooms and the public areas and hope you will see this the next time you visit. Please keep looking out for our special themed breaks as there are more to come.........the murder mystery nights are proving very popular! Kind regards, John Carpendale, General Manager

We booked the murder mystery weekend for a friends 40th birthday, 2 nights B&B, dinner and entertainment for £109 per person (we upgraded to a superior room) was excellent value. The room was a good size with a huge comfy bed. Bathroom decor is a bit dated but the shower was great with big bath sheets.
We ate in the hotel on our first night, lovely service and food. Bar prices were ok too.
The murder mystery on the second night was fab! Everyone in our party of 9 loved the 3 course dinner and the entertainment though the highlight was the whole room singing Happy Birthday to my friend as the staff brought out her cake.
Oh and breakfast... excellent selection of fruit, cereals, pastries and cooked. (Although no mushrooms!)
In all we had a great time and would recommend this hotel. I am already thinking about booking the murder mystery weekend for my birthday in November.
Well done to all the staff for a great stay :)
