My family and I stopped off at the Oak Tree Inn at what seemed like the perfect time. We were only there for 2 days, but the weather was perfect and the scenery was breath taking. I was walking the trails around Loch Lomond in a tank top! After a long two weeks of traveling up through England to get to Scotland, we were relieved to find a place this special. The staff were truly helpful in helping us find walking trails and excursions. Kirste (I believe that was her name!) was so helpful for our entire stay. On our long ride back to Wakefield, she even offered to pack us breakfast. The pub and restaurant downstairs had fantastic food! My mum (a true Yorkshire woman) even said the fish and chips were comparable to those she grew up on. If you do stay at the Oak Tree Inn, we highly recommend taking a boat to the Inchmahome Priory in the Lake of Menteith. Thank you Oak Tree for being one of the best parts of our holiday.

Had the pleasure of stopping off at Balmaha and after a good walk around viewing it was time for lunch. Managed to get an outside table in the sun during a very busy day and ordered drinks and a light lunch at the bar. The staff were very helpful and cheery and provided a good service. The food though expensive in my view though I understand that they have to make their money during the summer season as I expect winter would slow was very good and tasty and well presented. A most enjoyable part of the day and would certainly eat there again. Recommended

What a great place to stay! Spotlessly clean room with very comfortable beds and views over the Loch. Good local walking. Ate at the restaurant at night and had the Charr - amazing! Atmospheric restaurant area with lots of interesting things on the walls. Friendly and helpful staff. Tried our first whisky on the recommendation of the bar staff - a very pleasing experience. Breakfast was good.

We were brought here for lunch by our tour guide when on a day trip around the area. It was a Sunday and was heaving. We managed to get a table and ordered, after a fair wait we were served and the food was all freshly cooked and delicious and I would recommend it. The one thing that let it down was the miserable waitress Mary. All the other waitresses we saw were smiling ,friendly and helpful, she was surly and had a real attitude problem, mumbling and offhand as if we were a nuisance because we were not locals. She is the only old waitress, (well probably in her 50s so not that old), so sit at a table with one of the many others who were probably in their 20s and you should be ok!

Stayed in nearby Bunkhouse but had dinner here. All six of us enjoyed our meals. I had steak pie and it hit the spot after walking from Milngavie. Can't comment on rooms but I would recommend this place for food at least. Wine particularly nice. Fab setting.
