We came across this place by chance whilst on our honeymoon. We had intended to stop for a bite to eat and a quick look at the loch and to use the free wifi to look for some accomodation for that night (the final night of our trip). We had intended to travel on towards Edinburgh but the Inn was so pleasant that we decided to ask if they had a room for us. Despite asking for a standard room we were allocated a room with king size bed and living room overlooking the loch.
The location was idyllic and when we returned later for Dinner the food was supurb. We were even gifted a bottle of wine (I think this was because it was our honeymoon)
I cannot compliment the Oak Tree enough. We loved this place so much I am certain we will return for our wedding anniversary if not sooner.

Stayed here earlier this year and would definitely recommend, rooms excellent (we were in Dans cottage, modern, cosy and spotlessly clean). Food excellent, my husband loved his salmon salad! Going back to stay in the summer.

Room Tip: The rooms in the cottages are a little way from the main hotel but are lovely. If less able may be...

Stunning location, very friendly and helpful staff, Rooms were more than worth their price. My partner and I were staying in one of the cottages (Dans cottage) with excellent views of Loch Lomand. Breakfast was fantastic every morning. We used the Oak Tree Inn as a base to for viewing wedding venues around the Loch and have added it to our list of places for guests to stay.

Room Tip: Go for a cottage room, well worth the extra cash

As two older couples we look for comfort and cleanliness and found both. The rooms were in a cottage next to the main Inn which was ok except as it rained we had to don coats to go for breakfast and meals.
The rooms were immaculate and overlooking the Loch, bathroom had showers which were a bit temperamental and ran hot and cold alternately when you were in (not good when it's cold). The room was eventually warm once we worked out the heating dials ( no information in the room), but bed lovely and the linen and towels were fine.
The Inn serves nice reasonably priced food and appears busy most evenings. We were advised that they do not take bookings . just come down and we would get a table, unfortunately on the Saturday evening we had to wait with everyone else about 15mins for a table ( no priority as guests).
Breakfast was fine when it was served as a buffet but on the other day we could only choose from a small menu, and there was no fresh fruit or yoghurts. The staff were pleasant but we had to ask for butter and the bread for toasting was left on the table in its 'Warburton Bread wrapper' not very appetising.
We paid £75 per night which I think was fair, but definitely not worth any more.
The area is beautiful, quiet, and walking country, which would benefit from good weather.

Room Tip: if possible ask for an upstairs room as the walls are very thin!

My rating would be 3.5 out of 5 if it was an option.
Not Average. Not Very Good, But Good.

We recently stayed at the Oak Tree for 2 nights, as our daughter was getting married at another location near by (where accommodation wasn't an option).
As our party had booked the majority of the rooms, we got to see a variety of rooms.
My mother was booked into a small twin room with no view, and was still charged £75 a night -despite the room being single occupancy. It was definitely overpriced.

We had a slightly larger twin room, again with a limited view.
It was not really suitable for our purposes, i.e. it was too small to change in/out of wedding outfits.
There were no wardrobes in this room, with limited hanging space.
Again, I felt this room was a little overpriced.

On the other hand, friends had booked a Deluxe room, which was huge.
It had a massive bed, a lovely view, and had a lounge in it too.
If staying here again I would definitely go for a Deluxe room, as it is worth the extra expense.

Food at the Oak Tree Inn is very good, but again I feel it is slightly overpriced for an Inn, e.g. £10.95 for haddock and chips, and £19.95 for Sirloin Steak.
Breakfast is mainly self-service, and on our second morning was chaotic.

This accommodation is ideal for tourists looking for an overnight stay near Loch Lomond, or for people stopping off while walking the West Highland Way.

I would recommend staying here, as long as you are happy to accept the limitations of the accommodation as being secondary to the beauty of the local scenery.

Room Tip: Book a deluxe room if you can afford it. Ask for a room overlooking the Loch if it is available.

This was our 3rd stay at the Oaktree we had booked in for two nights taking advantage of the half price room offer, we had booked a delux room, our two previous visits we stayed down in James's cottage which we loved! Big windows overlooking the loch and a large deck,

This time we thought it would be nice to try a different room, we were give one in one of the bungalow builds right by the lodge we checked in and our initial feelings were a little disappointed it was a large room but it felt very tired, it did have lovely views from the lounge area but did not have a deck or doors opening outside it was a very sunny day and the room felt very stuffy also the large white sofa looked very worn, we returned to reception and asked to be moved rooms so we moved to the next building loch Sloy this was a nice sweet little room nicely decorated and had French doors on to a small deck although nice I don't think the room was a delux standard,

Dinner on the first night In the pub was ok we tried the oaktree burgers for the first time and they were nicely presented but did not taste home made at all, on the second night the dinner was much better and we had a great night, breakfast both mornings was a buffet affair and was good, plenty of choice and nice and hot!

We will return to the Oaktree as it is great value but will stay I'm James or Dans cottage!

We only dropped in the Oak Tree Inn for a brief drink and a snack following a walk alongside the shore of Loch Lomond and usually that wouldn't be enough for me to post a review but we were very taken by the atmosphere of this place.

The pub is very cosy and welcoming - especially on a damp and dreary day. The smell of the fire coupled with the wall decorations (various items reflecting local traditions of game hunting, fishing and even skiing) give the pub its own charm and personality.

If/when we are back in this area I am sure we will return to the Oak Tree Inn for more than just a pint and some chips.
