“Oak Tree Inn Balmaha.”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

I have been lucky to be able to travel to many places worldwide. Rarely have I travelled in my own country and when I did so I was not overly impressed with what I encountered. However this afternoon having just returned from another stay in The Oak Tree Inn, Balmaha, my feelings have changed. The cleanliness, friendliness, professionalism and down right good feeling given by the staff was very refreshing.
The food was sublime, fresh vegetables grown in the Inn's own nursery, fish, steak, chicken I have never tasted better. Portions, I would defy any New Yorker to complain about the size of the portions or the quality of the fayre served.
All in all a very pleasant stay in a place that we will return to again very soon.

Room Tip: You dont need any tips, just go and enjoy. It is billed as a walking center but if I posted photogra...

Lovely place, clean and tidy, great food, but, get rid of the clannad cd that's on a permanent loop in the bar, buffet breakfast( which wasn't advertised when we booked) has to go, considering the price of the rooms, I expect to be served a proper Scottish breakfast, and not to be standing in a queue waiting to pick food from metal buckets, also the drinks are over- priced.

This is a walkers Inn with no frills. Rooms are clean and tidy although not large. Our Room (1) did have a notice about noise and supplied ear plugs although we didnt need them. The most noise came from the kitchen below us which was quiet when we went to bed.

Food was not cheap but in good sized portions. Cullen Skink for lunch went down well.

Only negative comment was the lack of a lounge area to sit and have a drink in comfort. The bar area is set up with tables and chairs for serving food. Wooden chairs are not the most comfortable when you are returning from a days walking and having a refreshment.

Lovely location, all in we enjoyed our stay.

Have been eating at the Oak Tree every year since they opened when we visit Loch Lomond. Always reliable and the food is good although not exceptional. Always try to get into the bar, the other eating areas lack the same experience. Note to owners: your prices are at the limit of what's acceptable.

My partner and I stayed at the oak tree inn for 2 nights, the inn itself was stunning and in a beautiful location. We stayed in room 1 which was lovely and clean, the pillows and bedding smelt so fresh and the shower was lovely and warm :) everyone at the Oak Tree were so friendly and polite nothing was too much trouble. The buffet breakfast and meals were delicious and VERY filling .. My compliments to the chef for the Stciky toffee pudding!
We will certainly make another 4 1/2 hour journey back to this hotel again!
*the pillows used in the room are amazing ... So much so I went to John Lewis to purchase my own set for home :)
A very enjoyable stay, thanks to everyone at the Oak Tree Inn

Just returned from this hotel with my fiance after a 2 nights and can honestly say it was gorgeous best one yet by far. We upgraded to a superior room and we got located in one of cottages just a few minutes walk from hotel. It was gorgeous and bed was so comfortable with really good bouncy pillows. Shower was best i have ever had and could have spent weekend in it alone it was a double shower and water was roasting hot. The Decor in room was lovely and real cottage feel to it with a 42 inch tv mounted on wall. The food in hotel was amazing and can honestly say could not fault this hotel on anything. The staff were also lovely and very friendly.

Room Tip: Stayed in Cottary Cottage Room 65 amazing!
