We returned to Gowanlea guesthouse this year on our way back from the highlands. Yet again they did not disappoint us. The room was excellent. The breakfast was superb. I had the smoked haddock with poached egg instead of the full Scottish. John and Andrea made us feel at home.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a bath and a shower

After a long drive, we were warmly greeted by Andrea, the owner. Right away we felt welcomed and at home. The rooms and bathroom were charming. You can tell she put a lot of effort in making the rooms nice. Loved the decor with a touch of plaid carpet. Breakfast was fun because of the wide variety instead of just the typical "Scottish breakfast". Would recommend with no hesitations! Also her new puppy Sammy is precious!

We really enjoyed our stay in the Gowanlea Guesthouse.
Our room was nice , clean and modern . The owner Andrea was
helpful and made the best breakfast we ever had in a Guesthouse.
We also ate at their restaurant in the evenings - down the village run by her husband
John - excellent food -first class service. Will certainly stay there again.

On arrival the hostess greets you with fresh coffee or tea. The rooms are spacious; beds v. Comfortable and bathroom modern. Breakfast very good. It is just the place you would want to stay. The owners have put a huge amount of effort and investment into their business.

I stayed here with two friends who were cycling 'LEJOG'. Booking was easy, I was simply added to their booking at a price that was cheaper than quoted going through the website. Guesthouse was ideally located to local amenities and easy to find. On arrival we were given refreshments while our cycles were taken care of by the owner and securely stored. Rooms were great and not at all what I was expecting for the price I paid, very clean, fresh and modern, shower was good and bed very comfortable. The owners recommended a restaurant which turned out to be very good, with food and service to match the guesthouse. We have all said that we would return to the guesthouse and the fact that the train journey which I used to get to balloch was so reasonably priced means that it is a great choice for a weekend away with both Glasgow and the Highlands within easy reach, even on a pedal cycle!

This B&B was a pleasant surprise! It was spacious, modern and clean. The rooms were well laid out and beautifully decorated. The hostess and her husband were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely as well. I stayed here with my two teenage child and my husband and it was a perfect place to stay. I highly recommend this B&B!

Thanks for making our trip to Balloch so pleasant. Nice rooms with modern bathrooms, huge breakfast and a very helpful and friendly hostess. Even stored our bikes in the shed overnight. It is also nice and close to town. Nothing was too much to ask and we were made to feel very welcome.
