“A fantastic place”
Reviewed February 19, 2014 via mobile

We visited Dug recently with out Pointer pup, Max. I had read very good reviews of the place beforehand and we were keen to se if the place lived up to its recommendations. I'm pleased to say that it did. The food is excellent. We sampled the delicious home made soup, the tasty toasties and a fabulous slice of cake. Max scoffed into the Dug's Dinner, which he devoured in seconds, and followed this up with some organic dog treats which he also loved.

The staff were all very welcoming and professional and responded very quickly, and without fuss, when Max decided to leave his mark on the floor! Despite our apologies, the mater was dealt with pleasantly and we were reassured that we shouldn't worry about little accidents like this.

All in all, this was a very good experience and we will undoubtedly return. Dug is a fantastic business idea and I wish the owners every success. If you are in the area, whether you have a dog or not, give it a try.

“been meaning to try it out and LOVED IT!!!!”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

Just been to the Dug Café at Lomond Shores, Balloch! When I first heard of this place, where dogs can join their owners in refreshments, I thought it was an excellent idea, but the experience was so MUCH BETTER that I expected!!! Myself and two friends, along with ones Bisson Frisse (Suzie) and my wee spaniel puppy (Tiki) stopped in for coffee. Two of us also opted for cakes (1 Large Scone and 1 gloriously fruity and light sponge cake). Café was full of dogs, all allowed to socialise freely, and all given treats (f.o.c.) Trust me- we all had as much fun watching the dogs playing, as they did running about!! Gates up so they don't escape, and none causing havoc. The idea is wonderful, and the staffs execution of their trade is second to none. Pleasant, friendly, and no one in a rush. A perfect place to relax after a walk!! 5 star idea!!!!!

“Dog owners' delight”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Great cafe food and very friendly service, whether you have a dog or not. But for those of us who like a dog walk with refreshments, then this place is ace! In the Lake District a huge number of cafés, restaurants and shops welcome dogs, but disappointingly not so many at all where we live, so it's a delight to find someone who has set up this business aimed at dog lovers, and has provided good food for all. Our dogs shared in a doggy birthday celebration, treats and there is a gated area so they can wander and socialise.

Lovely view over Loch Lomond from Their spot in Lomond Shores.

Marvellous idea. Well done team Dug!

“Yum! ”

Within Dug Cafe we found a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where we were instantly put at ease, even with our 8 month Border Terrier running around left to do as he pleased. But there were no disapproving shakes of the heads or pointing, everyone else was exactly the same! We had a delicious bowl of lentil soup and a toasted sandwich which was delish! The toastie came well presented as did the rest of the cafe with funky furnishings and a fresh flower on each table. If I had one suggestion it would be that there were more doggy items of food for sale, for instance doggy scones or doggy flans... Many owners can't resist treating their pooches! When paying up we were pleasantly surprised at the sum on the bill and we were waved to by a smiling waitress on the way out. Will definitely make the trip from Renfrewshire again. Thank you!

Visited here on a day out with the dog. Great idea, beats sitting in the drizzle with a pack of sandwiches. Staff lovely & friendly, great to chat with other dog owners. Will certainly visit again & would recommend it to all, dog owners or not.
