“Decent food for the price but nice inside and great location”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

If you are after basic but good value food Balloch Hotel has a decent menu.

After looking around the area this restaurant was much better than the cheap eats also in town. My partner and I both had one of the 'home cooked' piers and each was served hot in good time.

The pie was tasty but don't expect too much for your £7- £9 average main meal cost. My chips were basic pre frozen French fries and what looked like pre frozen 'Birds Eye' peas. Other sections do specify 'hand cut chips' so maybe these were better.

There is also ample free parking and a very nice walk by the Loch (or an open fire if you prefer to just relax after your meal.

All in all nothing to rave about but if you're in Balloch this is as good as you'll get without spending much more at the Cameron House Hotel restaurants.

“Cosy pub grub”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in October, the pub was cosy, nice open fire, good wine and beer, friendly staff. We had the vege option cashew nut paella and tuna with tiger prawns, both lovely meals. Nice setting for some pub grub!

“poor food”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

My wife and I visited Balloch House on Wednesday evening 3rd of October 2012, the reason we visited was the advert outside: "two steaks and a bottle of wine £30-00" however when we were presented with the menue it had been changed to a "pie night" The waitress(Michele) was very friendly, helpful and well informed. The beer, wine & whisky on sale was first class. The time between giving our order and being served was far two long bearing in mind the fact that there were very few diners. We decided on "Steak & kidney pie with suite pastry", there was very little kidney in evidence and the pastry was very crisp and in some places so hard as to be uneatable. We also noticed several people around us complaining about the food for one reason and another. For a Hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond there was very little evidence of traditional Scottish food. We would not return or recomend the hotel

“Good beer & good food”
Reviewed October 4, 2012 via mobile

Having been to Balloch on many occasions Balloch House is a must for a meal. It is lovely inside and the staff are polite and friendly. The food is very good and they usually have guest beers on at the bar. In the holiday season it is very busy, i had one problem on a very busy evening of our food not coming, the order had been mislaid, the manager was apologetic and very professional and the issue was sorted out in a very satisfactory manner. I have eaten there on numerous occasions since and will happily return again & again.

“Lucky find!!”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

We have just returned from a short stay at the Lodges of the De Vere Cameron House and yesterday spent sometime hunting for somewhere to have our evening meal due to two of the hotel restaurants being closed to private functions. We were just about to give up and go for a take away when we saw the Balloch House. The menu had plenty of choice as well as a specials board, in fact if you order before 5pm they do 3 courses for £10 which is what we ended up going for. Both of our meals were delicious and the restaurant very well designed for comfort and relaxation. We were initially served by a lady who although not very warm and friendly was very efficient. We were also served by a young guy called Aaron who really was very pleasant and made us feel right at home. He gave us some forms to complete to receive offers and explained about them to us and showed genuine interest in us asking what our plans were for the evening. He even informed us that there was going to be a fireworks display at Loch Lomond Shores for their 10th anniversary that evening which we had not seen advertised anywhere. He really is a credit to the restaurant and really demonstrated excellent customer service which is difficult to find.
