“Great but watch out for big waves”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Phoned up and booked over the phone. When we arrived the boat looked clean and newish. After safety brief headed out. Was great to explore and easy to drive. While out on the loch waves started whipping up. While passing an island a large wave came over the front of the boat. Boat filled with water and had to head to the nearest island to bail out. Lucky no damage caused! On return i was told that the boat was unsinkable but it did fell like we were going down.

Great experience well recommended

“Banter on the boat!!”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Myself and 3 friends booked to hire a boat for 3 hours through groupon yesterday and we had a blast!

We arrived a little early as myself and one of my friends had been before and wanted to show our other friends around. The girl that greeted us got us fitted up and was up for a giggle with our dry sense of humour! We had to wait a little over our time but we didn't mind as the weather was beautiful! When we got on the boat we were shown how to drive obviously and all the other bits and bobs. Off we went and although the boats weren't the fastest ( there were 4 of us on board so it was weighed down a bit) we loved every minute of it. The only thing we couldn't understand was the map without a key so we didn't understand the signs. We also had to call up because we got lost ha! The islands are beautiful the experience was amazing and we even knew a little bit about the islands after being on the safari thing couple months before! We did arrive back late also ( and soaked because we had an accident) and the guy was lovely about it- good banter and an amazing day! We are looking to hire for the whole weekend next time! :)

“Truly awful!!”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

After booking our boat we had to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive, the customer service from the girl n particular was seriously lacking to say the least! We eventually got our boat and set off only to break down ten minutes later as one of the staff 'forgot' to put fuel in the boat! Really not a good experience bobbing around in the middle of loch Lomond with my five year old daughter on board. This is a amature outfit run from a tailor on the banks of Lomond shores, I wouldn't advise anyone to book with them.

“Fantastic day Out”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

Just returned from a fantastic day out on the Loch. Good weather of course did help but given that it is Scotland we went prepared for anything and everything.

Bought a 3 hour boat hire ticket through Groupon - booking process through to collecting the boat worked very well with friendly staff eager to ensure that we had an enjoyable day. I had the benefit of knowing the Loch but the chart that we were provided with made planning a safe route easy for anyone.

I was keen to show my wife and a couple of friends how beautiful the Loch is from the water so I initially set off for Balmaha (skirting Inchmurrin and Inchcailloch which has a lovely bay on the east side with toilets) and then up the east side before crossing to the narrows where we beached the boat and had a quick picnic before exploring the island. I would liked to have then moved on to explore Luss, tying up up a the pier, but unfortunately we ran out of time and had to speed back down the west side - takes c40 mins. (boats can only do c15mph - fast enough though). Next time, and there will definitely be a next time, we will book a minimum of 4hrs but the price for a whole day appeals and will allow you to do so much more.

Just a suggestion, you can park your car virtually where you pick up the boat. Following the instructions on the site to get you to Loch Lomond Shores but then follow the signs to the slipways, and then driving on a bit to the car park which is to the left of the slipways (when looking at the Loch) you can get to the boat pick-up point by walking to the Loch and by then following the path that goes to the left.

I would highly recommended this experience to anyone .

“Motor Boat Experiance”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

We hired a motor boat from Loch Lomond Boat Hire in July 2012, we bought our ‘ticket’ through Groupon so saved quite a bit off the normal price of hire.
The booking process was a bit odd as you go on to the hire site put in all the details of the date and time you want to book and then it comes up “this is a provisional booking only” and that they will get back to you to confirm you booking. My husband had to phone them 2 days later to see if we actually had a place or not, however I suppose they were quite busy with all the Groupon bookings they had. Even so I felt a bit let down at the lack of communication.
When we got to Loch Lomond we found the boat hire staff to be very friendly and helpful.
We opted for a 2 hour boat trip, on which we went out to Inchmoan Island, had a quick 5-10min stop and then back, so I would recommend the 3 hour trip if you want to explore or go a bit further. We found the boat to be a bit slower than we expected it to be.
Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and so did the kids, we would go back again but only on another money off offer as it is quite expensive.
