“Beautiful area!”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Loved Loch Lomond! You can get lost in the Balloch Castle park and it has beautiful views of the lake. There are bike and canoe rentals close by, as well as shops and decently priced restaurants. Very lovely!

“Commercial Pollution”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

I visited Loch Lomond many times...years ago, before the concrete monstrosity was erected to the glory of profit and consumerism. It was a breathtakingly beautiful natural scene. Why don't idiots who want "retail therapy" just stay in their grimy concrete jungles....instead of creating a demand for commercialism that blights some of the loveliest places on earth? It is ignorance and human pollution of the worst kind...and should never have been allowed on Loch Lomond.

Thank you very much for your comment. I'm sorry you feel this way about the design of Loch Lomond Shores. We are located near the town of Balloch on the more populated southern tip of the loch, widely regarded as a gateway to 720 square miles of wilderness in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Obviously architecture is a matter of taste and opinion but we would like to reassure you that environmental considerations were at the forefront of the project. The architects of the various buildings on site incorporated the principles of sustainability appropriate for the National Park. In particular, the Drumkinnon Tower and the Gateway Centre have won awards and attracted praise and commendation from the world of architecture and beyond. If you are interested, more details about the general approach taken are available here: http://www.glasgowarchitecture.co.uk/lomond_shores.htm

“Nice walk and plenty of shops and stalls”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

When we were there, the sun was shining and there were plenty of stalls serving food from different countries. There is a play area for children and nice views across the loch. There is also plenty of parking. This was a bank holiday weekend, so although it was busy, we still found a parking space.

“Nice place to spend a sunny afternoon”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

This is a visitor attraction come mini shopping centre at the south end of Loch Lomond,20 minutes drive from the M8.

This is a place we often visit, sometimes for an afternoon out, other times just to visit the shops.

There are a number of things to see and do, from the sea life centre which focusses on species from the loch, canoeing or paddle boating out on the water or just sitting having a coffee on the open terrace watching the view.

The shops inside the centre are mostly a little higher class than most high street offerings, the largest of these being a Jenners department store. There are some very nice items on offer but the price tag reflects the surroundings, definitely worth it for some of the unusual items you won't find locally.

There is a large Hawkshead outdoor clothing store, a shoe shop and fancy goods/gifts shop to name a few.

The shopping unit is not that big but the quality is certainly not in question.

Food and drink are available from at least 3 locations with one being a restaurant upstairs with a view over the loch.

There are frequent farmers and continental markets with lots of stall holders coming from all over the place, great if you are looking for some dry cured Ayrshire ham or a zebra burger straight off the grill!

If you are planning a trip up Loch Lomond or if you fancy a nice shopping experience this is somewhere you should definitely visit.
