We stayed at Tullechwan Farm a four star S.T.B. B&B for two nights in September 2009..Sadly it was not the luxurious experience as promised on the web site. Some things met our expectations, such as the breakfast experience, the comfortable bed,the decor and the soft furnishings, but the rest of it was a major let down with a whole list of short comings.
On leaving the main highway we came upon a long winding track, which was heavvily rutted and potholed, and could only be negotiated at walking pace.We really feared for the welfare of our car.Apparently the track suffers from water erosion and is difficult to maintain.
We found the bedroom to be quite dark,as it was only lit by two bed side lamps, with no ceiling light at all.Another strange aspect was that there was no adequate provision for ladies to do hair or make up.Other than the bed the room furniture was mismatched and dated, while the TV was old with no remote control, and very poor picture quality. In the wardrobe was apile of stored bedding from elsewhere, and a total of four plastic and wire hangers.
The courtesy tray was no frills and equipped with only two small bottles of branded water,as the tap water is not of drinking quality. The bathroom lacked basic things, such as towel rails,a bin,a shelf above the basin, and a bottle of cheap liquid soap, was all there was by way of toiletries.Further more the shower cubicle was in need of refurbishment, and the toilet cistern took five minute to refillwith brown peaty coloured water, which appeared to be gravity fed from an out side tank.At check out time one needs to be aware of the 5% credit card charge, though cash and cheques are also accepted.
