“Change of rules mid week !”
Reviewed February 19, 2014 via mobile

Arrived in Scotland on Monday 17tj of February with my 14 year old daughter - decided to call in here for a drink, we paid them a visit last year and were advised that it was fine for kids to be in till 9pm unless having meal, if not eating then it was 10pm. I asked the lady behind the bar this time if it was ok for my daughter to be in there - Advised it was fine as long as she wasn't having alcohol ( obviously) made to feel very welcome. Decided to go again tonight . Served by another lady just after 8 pm, got settled down with our drinks to then be advised that kids aren't allowed in the pun after 8 unless eating - apparently this has always been the case ! Families not welcome it seems ! Thanks ;(

Thank you for your review. I am very sorry for all the confusion. I will make sure that all the team are aware of our policies. We are a friendly pub that welcomes families and have families returning frequently. I do hope you will give us another chance and visit us again in the future.

Delicious food, friendly staff and open fire what else you need! We staying in Log cabins near by and been to Village in before. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived so there was no problem with seating. Food arrived very fast and was tasty. I had pulled pork which was nice but I would like to have some veg with it! Had to wait for a while to settle the bill as we had children with us every minute counts otherwise no problems at all.

We came here after climbing The Cobbler! There is plenty of parking. It was warm and cosy and there is even an open fire which was great! There was a good selection of food which was very tasty and the service was quick and polite even though the inn was very busy (seems very popular; always a good sign!). Would visit again.

This was a real gem of a find! Lovely warm room, log fires downstairs friendly staff and the food was excellent. Hope to back at the end of this year!

Only reason for not 5 stars was the limited choice of draught beers; not much to worry about in the big picture though!

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the loch which was a real bonus! In future though, we'll make sure that we a...

Whilst up in Scotland with family, we visited this pub for lunch and are very glad that we did.
This pub has a nice atmosphere, log fires and excellent food.
The order was taken promptly, the food arrived quickly and was of a very high quality.
The staff were very attentive and looked after us very well.
We strongly recommend a visit if you are in the area. We are looking forward to our next visit.

We ate at the Village Inn one week ago, and my, what a feast. I started with mussels with chorizo and bacon. Heaven. I followed this up with the Cullen Skink which was fabulous. Extremely tasty and I wanted more!

My partner tried the Lamb Neck Risotto which was gorgeous followed by the Sirloin Steak in pepper sauce. Even I tried a bit of that and it was delicious. We will definitely be back. Anne, the hostess was extremely welcoming and was warm and friendly. She makes some of the desserts which are to die for. We could have taken he lot home!

Next time we're up in Scotland we will definitely stay. The staff couldn't do enough for us and the scenery is breath taking. Try and get a seat by the log fire, had we been staying we could have sat by them all night very snugly. We'll be back. Anne will make you feel welcome, she's a star!
