The Claymore is in a wonderful location with the best views I have ever seen from a hotel. However the rooms are old fashioned and in great need of some refurbishment. The staff are very nice and the food was good. Great value for the price we paid, just needs bringing into the 21st century. Look out for the hotel's cats, lovely friendly creatures.

?..will not be my last if the hotels are all as good as The Claymore Hotel.
We travelled with National Holidays on a 4 day break. Thank you to Bill our driver for his great commentary and for looking after us.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome, a feeling you don't get very often in the more modern hotels.
Our room was spacious, the bed comfortable, a good sized en suite albeit without a shower but we knew from other reviews we could request a shower.
The restaurant was well laid out and very inviting. The meals were excellent. Good choices, well cooked and plenty to eat, all served by our very charming and delightful waitress, Barbara from Hungary, who alcways had a smile, nothing was too much trouble. The service was quick and professional.
A very comfortable and relaxing bar lounge and again the bar staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. Everyone at The Claymore Hotel just made you feel special.
A lot of the guests seem to have visited The Claymore Hotel before, some 3 and 4 times and I can understand why.
The hotel itself is situated in such beautiful grounds looking over Loch Long. It is so peaceful.
Thank you to everyone at The Claymore Hotel for a fantastic stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 516 on the second floor, which overlooked a sort of grassy courtyard with other ro...

Located on the banks of Loch Long, beautiful views. Although the hotel would benefit from a little refurbishment our stay was enjoyable. Food was average, service very good, entertainment good. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We travelled with National Holidays and for the price we paid overall it was good value. Rooms were tired but spacious and clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views over the Loch.

Dear Shaun M,
All the information regarding your all inclusive stay is explained to you before you book. This is made clear on all information about your stay and is also available on the website and in the current brochure.
You knew you received 4 drinks per day. Was this a surprise to you when you got to the hotel?

Many, many guests book and pay for scenic view rooms and have no complaints but that is all you are paying extra for. Some of our rooms have internal views of courtyards and some look out to the side and rear. Only 17 rooms have the stunning front views on to Loch Long.
I can only apologise if you felt that the view was not worthy of your expectations

I am not going to even comment on your remarks about the food.
Thank you for your comments Shaun.
Regards,
Gary Watson.

Very welcoming and friendly. brilliant location. Enjoyed the whole trip and shall be returning to the hotel on another short break at some time in the future. Oh. and compliments to the chefs :)

Room Tip: if travelling with national express, upgrade to a scenic/view room. well worth the extra!!
