Owner description: Welcome to Loch Katrine - one of Scotland's special places. Just as special as the magnificent scenery is the famous steamship "Sir Walter Scott" which itself has been a landmark in The Trossachs for over a hundred years. Your visit is not complete without a cruise on this wonderful ship, or on "Lady of the Lake", the perfect way to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine. Perhaps you'll just want to relax with a coffee or a meal in the Brenachoile Cafe Bar, shop for a souvenir and take a stroll by the shore, or bring the family for a cycle trip?

“never again”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

I went on the boat trip with my friends and the trip was pleasant but the novelty soon wore off as it's just a loch with nothing around it. when we docked we discovered it was three hours til the return trip so we have a walk round the gift shop! after looking at novelty items made to look like a haggis or a bagpipe for 10 minutes we had seen everything in the shop.we went to the cafe and had to queue for ten minutes only to find soup and a roll was more than a house in knightbridge and we also had to clear our own tables, so was it nice? NO

“A lovely spot to visit”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

You can take a cruise along the loch or opt for a short (or long!) walk along the road that skirts the edge of the loch. A beautiful spot with lots of charm. Shops are small, but interesting and very friendly.

“memorable christmas eve”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve sail on Loch Katrine. My Dad was staying with us over Christmas and we weren't sure if there would be a sailing on Christmas Eve, but surprisingly there was. The weather wasn't great but the crew were so lovely and very happy to go out even though we were the only ones there. Even in poor weather the views are spectacular and the day was one I'm sure we will all never forget. It was such a peaceful and pleasant way to spend Christmas Eve. But it would be great anytime of year!

“lovely loch bad service!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

My partner and I went for a lovely walk on loch katerine. The scenery was amazing and on such a lovely day got very good pictures! On arrival was told that there was a parking fee (this was our first time here). We asked questions if we could take out cash to pay. Was told no cash machine!! And should be okay so instead bought some lovely pressies at the gift shop.

After our walk we went to the tea room/restaurant for a bite to eat. Very strange service, with the waiter following my partner to the restroom (very strange!!) Trying to have a conversation with him. Not sure if this was to win tips or so..... However the food and drink was very nice and the views were amazing. A shame about the hospitality in the place.....

In all a hidden gem to be found in the trossachs even though the people could have been more welcoming!!

“Bad weather but brilliant views”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

We went to on a cruise of Loch Katrine on the Steam Paddler which was fab but the wether was quite bad! However, with a cosy inside cabin the weather didn't dampen spirits and the views were spectacular! The resturant on Loch Katrine was also top class, great food and brill service!
