Owner description: Welcome to Loch Katrine - one of Scotland's special places. Just as special as the magnificent scenery is the famous steamship "Sir Walter Scott" which itself has been a landmark in The Trossachs for over a hundred years. Your visit is not complete without a cruise on this wonderful ship, or on "Lady of the Lake", the perfect way to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine. Perhaps you'll just want to relax with a coffee or a meal in the Brenachoile Cafe Bar, shop for a souvenir and take a stroll by the shore, or bring the family for a cycle trip?

We called up in the morning and decided to go on a boat and do some fishing. Even though there was no boats out and we didn't book in advance they still accommodated us and prepared the boat and equipment needed within the hour.

After a few hours out on the boat (with the dog as well) came back to hand back the equipment and had lovely hot chocolate and slices of cake to warm up. Even though we did not catch anything we will definitely we back due to the friendly staff, good value and good standard of equipment available!

I love steam engines and this has been in my sights for a while. So, on a decent day, out of season to avoid the crowds off we went. Nice drive to get there, but disappinntg arrival finding out it cost to park (about £3 I think, not a fortune, but given you pay for the boat, it seems a bit much, -1 star for that).
Walking along the pier to the boat, there's a history lesson centred around the local area and it's most famous resident, Rob Roy McGregor. The boat itself was clean and comfortable with a choice of inside or outside standing. Some limited commentary was on, enough to be enteraining, not so much as to become grating. Changes brought about by the flooding caused by the dam were pointed out and were interesting, I also never realised how close we were to the Arrochar Alps.

Took the Sir Walter Scott during the jazz festival in Callander. We really enjoyed the trio, but we were probably influenced quite a bit because this great jazz band was playing Dixieland music most of the time and that really enhanced the experience. Try to pick a warmer day to go since it can get windy on deck.

Took boat trip on "The Walter Scott" not very good for your money unless you like short boat rides. Can get drinks with Whiskey , Brandy ect in them do warm you up if cold but not cheap.

Sir Walter Scott steamer was unavailable so we took the one hours cruise round Loch Katrine. It was a foolish day and we were glad to be sitting indoors - lovely views of changing colors of autumn from the boat.
