Just got home after a two day "Groupon" break to this hotel. We were in the Frazer room which might be one of the smallest in the hotel. The view is admittedly fairly un-inspiring......BUT....and its a fairly important but....its what we ordered. We were offered the opportunity to upgrade to a larger room at the front with a scenic view but declined. The room was comfortable and clean which is what was important to us.
When we checked in, Andrew was very pleasant and having checked our voucher, produced our free bottle of "bubbly" which to be honest, I had forgotten all about so that was a nice surprise.
We decided to stay in the hotel on the first night so ate and drank there. The food was excellent and the house wines that we chose ( there is a choice of house wines) were very nice indeed.
Breakfast is from 08.00 to 09.30 officially but seemed to be approached with a flexable attitude.I would like to make a wee observation on this point.A young couple came into the dinning room just around the cut-off time, looked around and probably feeling a bit unsure of themselves, walked back out. Andrew came out of the kitchen just as they left. He completed the service he was already performing, then went after them and having reassured them, brought them back in to have their breakfast. No fuss made...but I thought it worth mentioning as I think it illustrates the quiet, subtle and probably unsung care that guests are given.
The hotel is about 2 miles from Rothsay town so you have to bear the location in mind if that is important to you.
All said and done, we enjoyed our couple of days at Chandlers and would definately go back if / when we visit Bute again.

This has been our second time to Chandlers and once again had a lovely stay, Alison couldn't be more helpful and the food was great, I would agree with mcadamwj, the Chowder was superb. Our room had a beautiful view and very comfortable. Without a doubt we will be back again soon

Most importantly do no be put off by some of the reviews - we had a first class time at Chandlers. On arrival the welcome was spot on and we immediately felt valued. Being mid December the hotel was lovely and warm and the rooms were quiet at night. Throughout our stay the food was excellent and nothing was too much bother. We would have no hesitation in returning to Chandlers as we all felt there is nothing more the owners and staff could have done for us. Thank you so much.

Room Tip: Contact Allison with your requirements - she will try her very best!
