Reviewed February 25, 2013

beautifully sited on the bay overlooking rolling hills, what a magical view at all times of the day.
very comfortable, spotlessly clean, large room (5) and hosts were perfect. could not find any faults and would recommend to everyone, look no further, this is where we would return on our next visit to bute

Room Tip: spend extra on the seaview rooms, truly memorable

My first choice when coming to visit Bute. Dave & Kate always make me feel so welcome that it feels more like a home from home than than a hotel/guest house. This is not my first visit, but it is the first time I've left a review and to sum it up I would totally recommend The Ardyne and it's wonderful hosts to any visitor. I'll definitely be back ,the sooner, the better! Thanks Dave and Kate .

Room Tip: Just give Dave or Kate a call and they will be only too happy to advise .

We stayed twice in January with Kate and David, at the coldest time of year - and we were made to feel extremely welcome and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble, and the guest house is lovely. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed, and despite sleet and freezing temperatures we were warm and slept well. The breakfasts were brilliant, and although they don't do evening meals, I understand that they have a drinks licence, which although we didn't take advantage of, must be a definite bonus in the summer. They were able to point us in the direction of places to eat and see and they are incredibly friendly and helpful - David even helped us change a tyre in freezing rain!
They do a good deal if you have stayed there before - just phone and ask.

Room Tip: We had the upstairs front room, which has a huge window and fantastic sea views.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. The owners Dave & Kate made us feel extremley welcome and homely; nothing was too much trouble. Our room which was warm and comfortable had a sea view overlooking the glorious scenery across the Firth of Clyde. The guest house is a short walk into the town; we were given a great restaurant recommendation and suggestions for places to visit. All in all a lovely weekend made even more enjoyable due to our choice of guest house.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms overlooking the Firth of Clyde have outstanding views

The Ardyne Hotel is under new ownership, well-run and homey. A very fine location - close enough to town, but far enough away to have some quiet. Magnificent views across the Firth of Clyde to the mainland - and a brilliant rainbow, too.
Kate and David were wonderful hosts, going far above and beyond for this traveller who showed up tired & muddy from a day's hiking!
It really felt like home.
If you're off to Bute, look no further.

I had an overnight stay here with a walking group of 12 people. When we arrived we were greeted by Margaret and Billy who were very helpful. The rooms were extremely clean and well laid out with lovely little extras. Considering my room was at the front with an excellent view it was also fabulous as you couldn' t hear a thing regards to the traffic. In the morning the breakfast was amazing as there was a fabulous choice and it was all freshly made for you to your specification. I've spent over nights in several places and I have to mention that the overall cleanliness, food and service was outstanding. The only complaint is that they didn't do evening meal, but they did recommend where to and where not to eat. It's unfortunate that they are retiring
