My mother in law wife and I ate here this evening. Faultless at a very reasonable price. Good qual food and wine and superb service (especially young lady with long dark hair in pony tail). Def return

“EXCELLENT FOOD & SERVICE”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

On a recent trip to the Isle of Bute my husband and I ate at this restaurant twice. The scallops and fillet steak were superb and it is highly recommended.
The view is wonderful.

“A touch of elegance”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

The very efficent and friendly stafff gave us a warm welcome . The dining room was beautiful and the tables well spaced We chose from the 2/3 course fixed price menu which was good value and we enjoyed some lovely food, well prepared and well presented. The wine was of excellent quality and we actually prefer to pour the wine ourselves, unlike another reviewer, as this gives us more control over when and how much we drink. A very nice evening

“Still good - but could so easily be excellent”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We have dined at Victoria's many times in the last three years, usually saving it for special occasions (birthdays, engagement celebrations etc) to which it lends itself due to the beautiful views and the pleasingly semi-formal nature of the dining room. The food has always been good, with a number of menu items refreshingly innovative, and the service has always been friendly. So why doesn't Victoria's make the small leap to being excellent? A recent visit led us to ponder the following: first, a few items of table service: the first glass of champagne was poured by the waitress and after this we had to pour our own; we also poured our own water throughout the meal; our red wine was offered for tasting without any glasses on the table to do so; when we put off tasting the red until our champagne was finished no one came back to offer to pour this - and so we also poured all our red wine ourselves. We also pondered a few features of our food service: langoustines, which we have had several times in the past and found to be very good, now come whole and according to the kitchen could not be split, as they had previously been presented. And lemon sole also came whole, obviously still with skin attached - but completely covered in the accompanying sauce. The diner had to bone this herself - and first scrape the sauce off the fish to do so: hardly an elegant manner in which to treat such a lovely-tasting fish. The standard table-side filleting by a member of the wait staff would be the ideal method for this dish - or in the kitchen by the chef. These are just a few examples - and all of them fixable given willing pleasant staff, who could easily be trained, and a more flexible, diner-friendly attitude in the kitchen. What about it, Victoria's? Can you up your game and push this restaurant across the line into overall excellence? We would love to see that happen.

“Fabulous food and service”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

The first thing that sold this restaurant to us was the beautiful views of the Kyle of Bute, but the menu was a close second. My husband and I both had the Cullen Skink to start. Could have eaten it again as it was so delicious.I then had the lemon sole which was also delicious while my husband had the scallops, which were slightly underdone, but not enough to complain about. The two girls who served us, Megan and Elmira, were extremely friendly. In fact we had a really interesting conversation with Elmira. The food was so good that we went back for lunch again the next day. I can't say better than that!
