“A fine lunch with a fine view”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Great central location, though they really should invest in a lift. Could they not apply for a development grant?

Sitting in the bay view window which allows you fine views of Rothesay Bay, we ordered fish and chips. When they came the fish were huge, some might say too large, but everyone could taste the freshness of the fish.

For dessert we tried the amaretto cheesecake and mouse, the lemon tart and the rhubarb crumble, finishing off with coffee which was nice and strong. The cheesecake in particular was a delight.

Overall, excellent value for money and the staff were very attentive.

“Ghillies Restaurant (down from Victoria's)”
Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Came in for dinner and kust want to say that I found the food absolutely delicious. Had scampi and chips which was lovely, served with a lovely side salad, and I had sticky toffee pudding after which wouldn't look out of place in a Michelin stars restaurant. It also tasted amazing so hats off to the chef/s. The two waiters that were serving weren't rude or anything but could maybe work on their smiles and general attentiveness.

“slow and dry”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Despite being table service, we have up after about 10 minutes of being ignored and ordered at the bar. Food came quickly but my chicken club was dry/overcooked. Side salads were a huge pold of leaves and uninspiring.

Same service problem when going to pay.

This review doesn't sound like Victoria's. When you visit Victoria's you are greeted by our reception and shown to the lounge. The waiting staff then offer a refreshment whilst taking your order. When your food is ready you are then shown to your table. I would be delighted to hear when you visited.

“Ghillies Bistro (downstairs from Victoria's Restaurant)”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Popped in for lunch during a day trip on the Paddle Steamer Waverley. The bistro was clean and friendly. We decided on an open steak sandwich and a prawn baked potato. The baked potato was oven made and the side salads were fresh and tasty. The bill was not too expensive either considering the location. Would definately recommend for lunch.

“Four very happy diners!”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

We are four diners with different tastes and preferences yet the menu comfortably accommodated all four of us. I cannot recommend anything in particular because there are a number of dishes that I'd like to try so until then I'll abstain from recommendations. I look forward to my next visit. The restaurant staff are exceptionally nice and very helpful. If I was the manager I'd do all I could to hang on to these ladies as staff like them is a rarity.
