We have been in a lot of "homes" around the world but I have to say this was one of the most impressive places that I have ever seen. There is no doubt that literally no expense was spared when they planned this place..... the Neuschwanstein of manor homes. We ended up taking the tour and they were accommodating to our little kids (whom had zero attention span for the actual tour brief), they even tried helping us keep them occupied while the guide spoke which was very nice.... however, I would not take very little kids on the house tour (though there is a big playground at entry center). This place was far bigger than we had realized (once you include the walking paths & gardens) and wished we have given a few more hours to the site (next time!). If you are going to the Isle of Bute this really is a must see, the only downside is that they do not let you take any pictures in the house & tour guide was hard to hear since we had such a large group.

This gem on the island of Bute is an absolute must. Not the easiest place to find even on this tiny island but not to be missed. I have been to many stately places but have never seen the like of this one. Have a guided tour, the information given is amazing and fascinating. I would recommend this place to anyone

We visited this place with a guided tour. I think she said she was the manager, but I am not shure.
The guided tour was really great, yet there is so much to see. The place is just fantastic and the garden/parc is just so inviting to take a walk into.
The restaurant however at the visitor center: The staff was ... well not so positive and were more interested in closing the place prior to what they were supposed to. So a small minus there.
But definetly worth a visit, not only just if you came bye. Its worth it as a destination as such.

This house has a really spectacular intererior which is so ornate that it edges on being OTT. Absolutely filled with ornate features, marble, unique painting and architecture. Would say go and have look if you're staying nearby.
