We had a lovely meal here. Shared fried brie to start (just as well we shared and didn't go for one each!) then I had delicious Seafront (or was it Waterfront?) Chicken in a creamy spicy sauce and husband had breaded haddock. Both served with super fresh veg - all far too much for us but superbly tasty!

They don't take bookings here but we left our mobile number and went to the pub for a drink. They rang at exactly the right moment for us to nip back for our table. A very friendly place with all cooking done to order. We had dinner in three quite nice places in Rothesay and this was definitely the best by a country mile. Can't recommend it enough.

We have eaten at the Waterfront Bistro before, and visited again when we were on holiday on Bute.
We arrived early to make sure we were able to get a table, and had no problems. We were able to choose from a large selection of dishes. I had seabass in a citrus butter and my hubby had salmon salad with new potatoes. We both enjoyed our meals and decided to finish off with an Eton Mess each which was lovely.

Well worth a visit when in Rothesay

Food excellent. Only problem, too big main course and didn't manage to fit in one of the delicious sounding sweets.

Tried to get a table for 4 on a Friday evening about 8pm - they were packed but the very friendly waitress took our mobile number, assured us of a table in under an hour and accepted we may have found something else which 'would not be a problem'. We got a call in just 25mins inviting us back and we gladly went having previously read the reviews. We were not disappointed.

The restaurant (Bistro) is small and they do not take bookings (hence the call back as above) but well worth the wait. A very varied, imaginative and interesting menu presented on blackboards along one wall and a good wine choice detailed the same way on the opposite wall.

The staff were lovely and friendly but constantly had their eye on the ball and kept all the customers well served.
The portions were large (even our ever-hungry teenage sons were glad in the long run we had chosen not to have starters), the food was home cooked, excellent and piping hot. Those dishes served with side orders of potatoes and veg received a generous portion unlike many restaurants who grudgingly give one or 2 small pieces of veg and a couple of potatoes (and charge extra for them!)

Desserts were equally delicious though 2 of us shared one (admitedly large) portion of the delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding as we had little space left. But as the owner said - there is a special extra part of the stomach reserved just for desserts!.

This is an absolute delight of a place and not to be missed- although the current owners have it up for sale due to ill health. I sincerely hope the new owners (whoever they may be and whenever they take over) can keep up the amazing standards currently offered.
