Just stayed the one night - not cheap for what it is - sorry guys but I can get a Holiday Inn Express for that money - Budget toiletries shampoo in a sachet - dried milk sachet on the room tray - really small tv. Breakfast, nice bacon, sausage a bit soft needing browning, egg borderline overdone, microwaved tinned tomato, black pud needed crisped, no beans! White only toast and 1 marmalade per table (yeh the tiny pots) Lovely owners, but with such a nice location could step the game up.

Thank you for your review, I would like to respond to a few of the things you have said about my home, firstly we are a family run Guest house and its unfair to judge us against a chain of hotels such as the holiday inn, the complementery toiltries are not cheap, shower gel & shampoo are in a sachet yes, but you do not mention the shower cap, the nail file, the bar of soap, the liquid soap nor the packet of tissues, you mention dired milk in a sachet, this is a tea & coffee creamer for dietary reasons (some people can't take dairy products), again you do not mention the pots of milk, the biscuits, sugar, tea, coffee nor the hot chocolate, the tv is a 19" dvd/tv which is an ample size for the room. Now to Breakfast which I think you have been a little harsh on me, as mentioned before we are not part of a hotel chain so therefore do not have the same kitchen equipment as a large hotel (& we don't use liquid egg), if you had wanted a soft egg, well done sausage, beans and brown toast this would have been done for you, as to the beans we serve a Scottish breakfast with Scottish mushrooms, beans are for an english breakfast, again you do not mention the potato scones, the haggis, the black pudding, and finally to the marmalade, again if you had asked you would have been given more, again you do not mention the jams, the honey, the marmite, yoghurts etc... the rate you paid for your stay is in keeping with the rest of the graded Guset Houses, and we have a really good repeat business clientele. Thank you once again for your review. Hazel

The two of us had a very pleasant stay, one with a sea view, watching the ships go by, and the other overlooking the well kept little garden at the back with the chickens roaming around . It is a friendly, very clean and well maintained establishment, we were well looked after and well fed at breakfast time.

A lovely family holiday spent at this great guest house. Family room was ideal; the breakfasts were spot on; parking outside; couple of minutes walk to shops but far enough away to avoid the bustle; wonderful views; Harry and Hazel were the perfect hosts. Thank you.

This was the first visit to Rothesay, and the Isle of Bute for myself, husband and daughter. We really lucked out with our fabulous accommodation, and friendly hosts, Harry, Hazel and Matthew. We had the cosy little cottage at the rear of the Guest House, and loved the garden, and the chickens, who supplied our fresh eggs for our delicious breakfast, served in the main house with fabulous views of the bay.
The proximity of the Commodore to the harbour and the restaurants, shops and attractions was perfect. Hazel gave us greats tips where to eat, and places to visit, which was really appreciated.
Thank you all so much for your hospitality!

We are just back from a 3 night stay at the Commodore guest house in Rothesay. The room on arrival was perfectly clean, and secure as was the whole establishement, it was maintained every day to a very high standard and coffee, tea etc was replenished daily. We had a working TV and DVD unit also. The shower and toilet en suite was in perfect working order and completely spotless. We also had a kettle and plenty cupboard space, drawers, a table etc. We were made to feel at home from the outset, Harry and Hazel are a great host and hostess and very friendly and welcoming, we were advised and allowed to put our bicycles at the rear of the property where they would be safe. They gave us loads of advice on where to go etc. The breakfast times were upbeat and humourous, good banter! Not to mention lovely full cooked breakfast also porrridge available. The free range fresh eggs were produced by chickens that were kept in the back garden. As well as the rooms there are 2 self catering cottages at the back where pets are welcomed! We had a sea view room which cost us a sight premium but we did enjoy seeing the 'sea' and the wonderful view of Rothesay bay. If you stay at the commodore for a holiday this view will put the icing on the cake, well worth it! The room was also quiet and totally adequate for 2 adults. We coult not fault this guest house, we have no hesitation in fully recommending it for a stay in Rothesay you cannot go wrong. Top marks all round!
Thankyou to our hosts for a wonderful time. Stephen and Ann.

Room Tip: Choose a seaview room, if you are holidaying, it will make all the difference!!!
