I turned up at the front door of this guest house on a wet and windy monday evening. I had just cycled the 5 Ferries route from Ardrossan(about 60 miles) I was cold, wet and miserable.
My initial plan had been to Camp in a nearby campsite. however, with temperatures heading close to zero I was feeling chilled to the bone.
I rang the door bell and was met by Harry(the owner) he invited me in to let me see what rooms he had(nice touch). At this point I would have slept in his shed!!
We agreed the price and I climbed the stairs to room 4.
The room was nice with a double bed and very modern and recently installed shower room.
It has a TV and coffee/tea/Hot chocolate facilities(I hurriedly had a nice hot chocolate after my lovely warm shower)
The breakfast in the morning was served by Hazel who was very friendly and smiling. The full breakfast was delicious and extremely filling. Really nice touch having proper ground coffee in a caftiere.
All in all it was a pleasant experience, and a total lifesaver.
Note to Harry and Hazel:- hope the grass seeds actually grow ;-)More
