Stayed here on mini Scottish tour with family. Staff excellent from manager to chef to bar staff. Could not have been more hospitable. Room we stayed in was clean but slightly tired with awful view of chicken coop! However, the rest of hotel had clearly benefited from an investment programme, so we could forgive this, as this is a family run hotel and clearly they cannot fix everything at once. Food was very good and we are foodies...pleasant surprise if perhaps too large portions (minor point in fairness). Well done to all - it is heartening to see people take a pride in what they do. Keep up the good work.

My partner and I stayed here on the 16th July for one night and I can honestly say I have never come across a better level of service anywhere. The proprietors David and Sheila along with all the staff do everything with a smile and make you feel right at home.

They chatted to us on Sunday morning about how they have only had the place a year and what changes they have made and their plans for the hotel's future, all of which sounded fantastic and will make The Brander Lodge the best place to stay in Taynuilt without a doubt. Not that it isn't already.

The rooms are spotless and warm and the new beds super comfy so we had a great nights sleep. The rooms also have flat panel TV's with built in DVD players and a selection of movies to chose from in the family/relaxation room. There is also a large selection of books too and various toys for the kids to play with, all free of charge I may add.

We ate in the bistro and the food was great. My partner's Pork and my Steak were cooked to perfection and even though I just had the ice cream after with a choice of 3 flavours it was wonderfully creamy and served in a nice dish that put some Gelato places I've been to in Italy to shame. The breakfast too was fantastic with a buffet of cereals, mueslis, croissants, fresh fruit and juices etc to which you help yourself before staff take your cooked order. My partner chose Bacon and eggs while I plumped for the full Scottish. All served with toast of your choice and Tea and Coffee as you would expect. We were so full we didn't eat again until early evening when we got home.

This hotel is on the up and up and I can't recommend it enough. Well done to everyone at The Brander lodge for giving us such a good stay.

Booked this on a Groupon deal and though they had been rushed off their feet with telephone bookings, we managed to get a weekend at short notice and had a fabulous time. Rooms were spotlessly clean, not luxurious but more satisfactory than fine though not 5 star but honestly can say everything else was 5 star - Better than the Fairmount St Andrews which we stayed in recently in terms of customer service, food and overall experience. We took our well behaved dog and they went out of their way to check everything was fine for us. Dave and has daughter will go far if the keep up these high standards and follow through on their future plans for a conservatory, hot tub etc - well done !

Three of us were doing a four day tour on motorcycles, and our first overnight was in Brander Lodge. We were very impressed by the friendly and helpful owner and staff. The location is lovely, and is well back off the road. Dave, the owner, is originally from New Zealand, and is gradually upgrading the whole property. Rooms are comfortable, but a little on the small side. You may also find the showers - they are the type that work from the bath taps - a bit under powered. Nevertheless, I am awarding 5 stars because of the excellent food, service and company! We went out of our way to stay another night there on our way back!

Room Tip: Room rates are very good anyway - but are negotiable!

David Keat and his family have wrought an extraordinary transformation at Brander Lodge over the past year. The bedrooms have been refreshed and the main public areas have also been updated. However, the most dramatic change of all is the terrific warmth, friendliness and heartfelt welcome now given to all guests and visitors. I love Freddy too, the gorgeous cat to be found padding about the reception and garden areas. The recent menu change is delicious - I particularly recommend the Brander chicken main dish. If you ask (though it's not on the menu), you might lucky enough to get some pumpkin pie, a treat originally made for some visiting Americans and continuing to be popular. Brander Lodge is an authentic, lovely place to stop in for a drink or meal and certainly to stay.

My husband & I stayed at the Brander Lodge in April 2011. Right from the time we arrived, to the day we left David Keats & his team provided everything we needed, from laundry to meals. Their knowledge of the area is fantastic, we did a couple of day trips to Oban & Fort William & Dave was able to provide some great tips. The food is great, as is the service. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is wanting to stay in a place that is a wee bit like home.

Ten months since my last stay at Brander Lodge and the new owners have made some tremendous renovations to a beautiful hotel that had previously got a little tired and run-down. What a difference in ten months! I am sure you will not be disappointed, lovely clean rooms and new beds that are so comfortable. Food, as last time was excellent and the new restaurant menu offers a wonderful selection on all three courses. A warm and friendly welcome makes you feel 'so much at home' in this family run hotel. Great location, surrounded by beautful hills and river at bottom of the garden and is only a short run into Oban. Their plans for further improvements and additions sound exciting and I am very much looking forward to my next visit.
