Rockpool house is a beautiful apartment with fantastic views. Steven and Lynne are excellent hosts , home made bread, butter, fresh eggs and a bottle of bubbly on arrival. The apartment has everything the holidaymaker needs. The outlying areas are also beautiful. Great photo opportunities almost everywhere.
Perfectly formed and spotlessly clean Rockpool provides a great base for a couple + dog to explore the gorgeous Ardnamurchan Peninsula and watch the ever-changing weather over Loch Sunart. The hosts make sure you're well catered for on arrival with home-made bread, eggs, cheese, butter, milk, dog biscuits and bottle of fizz in the kitchen, Scottish toiletries in the bathroom and plenty of advice on the area. There are several maps, guide books, paperbacks, suduko (not as yet used!), postcards and board games to keep you amused when not out and about. I only knocked off a point as the satellite TV didn't work when it was raining.
The village of Acharacle is about 20 minutes up the road where there's a well-stocked shop, post-office and lovely tea-room amongst other amenities. There are several lovely beaches around the peninsula where the dog can run free. It does need to be kept on lead around the property due to the owners' chickens and the road (totally quiet at night) but there is a small fenced off area immediately outside the entrance with a table and chairs. I can imagine the property is always warm and cosy even in mid-winter so would like to return again to look at the stars and maybe see the Northern Lights.
Beautiful location with spectacular views across Loch Sunart. The property is well-appointed and fairly centrally situated for exploring the Ardnamurchan pensinsula.
Fantastic accommodation with everything you'll require superb views of the loch and hillside. Friendly and informative hosts. Probably the best accommodation we've stayed at. Many thanks.
Despite not having the best weather while we stayed here we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment had everything we needed for a stay away.
The location is lovely, the views fantastic - even during a storm.
Very clean and tidy and great value.
Told by friends to visit Ardnamurchan we were quick to see what accommodation we could find. And wow did we find an amazing place to stay. Before I get onto the house itself, and the scenery let me start with the hosts. Steven and Lynda were incredibly warm and welcoming. The welcome gift of fresh bread and eggs were stunning and photography tips will not be forgotten. The advice on where to go was spot on: from the oak woodland, quiet beaches and places to eat, thanks.
As for the house. I don't think we could have asked for more. Cosy, quiet, warm, comfy and above all views that rival any, anywhere. Even on a wet day with winds pushing down the Loch the views do not disappoint. They leave books, games and dvds, but I don't think we even considered these for the views out of the floor to ceiling windows were incredible all day and late I to the night. When not inside, evening strolls stolls along the shore (when the tide is out) are perfect ways to soak in the calm and beauty of the place as well as seeing spectacular sun sets. As for wildlife, otters, sea birds, buzzards, deer, pinemartins and even porpoises. Oh, not to forget the wild chickens...
If you are up for some sea kayaking, the excellent local otter adventures down the road is an excellent way to enjoy the day.
We can't wait to return.
Josh and Mairie
This is the most amazing place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble and the place was so well equipped. The loveliest and cleanest place we have ever had the privilege to stay in. Can't wait to come back again.
