“Superb house in a fantastic, tranquil location”
Reviewed October 21, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We had a truly fantastic week, the house is soooo beautiful, well equipped (we wanted for nothing), warm, spacious, great shower - and we loved the decor (have stolen a few design ideas!!).

We holiday on the west coast once/twice a year - this is the very first time we have not had a drop of rain - warm, sunny weather (and very few midges!).

We did lots of activities - walking, biking, the kids swam from the pontoon!, picnicked, nightime camp fires at the river, eating marshmallows and smoores - the kids swam in the river!, built a den in the woods, went on the jacobite steam train, had fish and chips in Mallaig, Visited Ardnamurchan lighthouse, went to Sanna Beach (the kids swam in the sea!), had mini olympics on the grass, tug-of-war competitions, tabletennis tournaments, hide and seek, a treasure hunt, a quiz night, had dinner at the Ariundle Centre (great food!), had a midnight onesie and wellie walk and a spa night (that the children organised!) - oh - and the 'phonebox challenge' (got all 6 children in!!!) - and I'm sure lots, lots more!!

We have already recommended Glenhurich Lodge to lots of friends and we would love to come back one day. It is a holiday we will all remember for a very long time indeed - probably forever!!

Thanks also to Cliff and his wife who were very welcoming and helpful.

We were a family party of 8 adults and 3 children. We all had a great week - the lodge is fantastic and had everything we could wish for. Knowing it was so isolated, we bought well at Fort William Morrisons and lived off Nigella recipes for the week!

5 of the group bagged their first Munro by climbing The Ben which was very hard but rewarding. We hired paddle boards from PaddleSurfScotland and paddled off the pontoon at Loch Shiel - very cold but so exhilarating to be out in the middle with no sign of anyone else on the water. PaddleSurfScotland's Fort William office was closed due to moving house but they agreed to travel over from Perth and meet us at Fort William which was good - it made the trips across the Corran Ferry mount up though (they certainly have a captive audience!).

Also took the ride out to Sanna Bay which is worth the visit - even braved the waters in wetsuits! Look out for Nurdurra cafe, exhibition, shop and playground on the road to Sanna.

Overall, thoroughly recommend the lodge as an excellent base for experiencing the unexpected pleasures of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.

“Absolutely Amazing”

We stayed as a group of 9 friends (3 couples and 3 singles) on August Bank Holiday weekend and it was incredible. From the moment we stepped through the door, we couldn't believe the gem we had found. The rooms were spacious, the beds were ridiculous comfortable and the living areas were perfect for large group socialising. We loved the log fire (yes, even in August, it was brilliant!), the raft of games and DVDs available to use, the rooms and the showers were perfect.

Gordon was great in advance of our stay, sending us information to help plan our holiday and very accommodating with requests. Marilyn and Cliff were lovely too.

We pre-ordered food from the Ariundle Centre that was delivered around 7pm on our arrival day, which was great after a long journey. The food was so delicious and Kate was super accommodating so would highly recommend doing this - we joked that we wished we'd pre-ordered for every night. You can also eat in there so check it out as it's at the start/end of the road to the lodge, near Strontian.

The area around Glenhurich Lodge is very rural but absolutely stunning. One of our friends went further down the road to Loch Shiel for his morning runs and said it was absolutely stunning so worth a walk up to Glenfinnan. We went to Tioram Castle on one day which was stunning and highly recommended to do the walk, and the other day spent exploring Sanna Bay and Ardnamurchan Lighthouse.
TOP TIP - make sure you get up early to make the most of the day as this place is very rural and it takes a bit of a drive to some places - 1 hour to Tioram and nearly 2 hours to Sanna Bay/Ardnamurch Lighthouse. We would have wanted to get the ferry to Tobermory on the same day (possible to do) but were too comfortable in the fabulous beds at the lodge!
Also, make sure you do a decent shop and bring it with you as there are supermarkets at Fort William but they're an hours drive away. Basics can be purchased in Strontian.

If you're not sure whether to book this place, may advice is BOOK IT NOW! We just wished we could have stayed longer, maybe forever!

An unforgettable experience. The rural surroundings provide a feeling of isolation yet, not far from civilistaion. The house with it's gardens is ideal, having all the needs to serve a large family/group. Amongs the many walks and drives exploring the areas, the highlight for me would be the 32 mile round trip, cycling along Loch Shiel from Poloch to Glenfinnan. Too much to do, not enough time to do it in. Would certainly return, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a truely relaxing holiday.

“Everything we wanted or needed, with more besides...”
Reviewed June 26, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Ours was a large, disparate group from as far afield as the Highlands and Brighton. The house was perfect; decorated tastefully with subtle attention to detail. Very good mattresses and bedding on all the beds plus a big kitchen with everything we needed to hand, including a range cooker, massive fridge/freezer, mixers and the list goes on. The barn has a table tennis table and there was a even a flat area beside that for football, cricket, whatever. In other words, everyone was very happy...

Liked best: Just being there in a lovely house and gardens with great people.
Liked least: The midgies on still, damp evenings.

“Excellent property in spectacular location”
Reviewed April 22, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The lodge was very spacious and well equipped. Felt more like a home than a holiday rental. The location was quite remote which meant it took some time to get there. However, it was more than worth it once we had arrived as there were great walks and cycle rides from the door. The variety of books, board games and DVDs meant that curling up in front of the open fire was a good option when the weather turned bad.

We drove from Glasgow and stopped via Loch Fyne on the way for lunch, which I recommend doing.

The drive up to the house is spectacular, the house itself is very well equipped with good quality kitchen itinerary, amazing fire place in the lounge rooms are all a great size and the bathrooms are brill.

There's a nice table in the garden area with a mountain in the backdrop where we had breakfast one morning in the sunshine.

There were 6 of us so had a room each which was perfect.

If your up for a house in the sticks and somewhere cosy to relax then this is definitely the place.
Hoping to return again soon.

Thanks to Gordan for all his help before the trip i.e. nearest supermarket is Morrison in Fort William around 45 mins away, but we did our food shopping at Aldi when we got of the flight in Glasgow.

It was our first time in Scotland and fell in love with the place.
