“A delicious birthday treat, warmly served by old friends.”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

I recently moved back to the Strontian area after several years away, and, in a moment of uncharacreristic decadence, decided to treat myself to a birthday dinner a few weeks ago at the Kilcamb Lodge's new Brasserie. I was delighted, but in no way surprised, that the standard of cuisine served by the ever-welcoming Mr & Mrs Fox in their new, less formal restaurant is as high as ever. As a Strontian resident, I would heartily recommend the Kilcamb to anyone, locals and visitors alike, looking for something just a little bit special for an evening's dining. The lamb dish I ordered was a treat for both the eye and the palate, the lamb cooked to perfection, and presented colourfully with a dazzling combination of flavours. I am thrilled to see the hotel continuing to flourish, and will definitely return!

Thank you so much for writing a lovely review of your recent birthday dinner in the Driftwood Brasserie. It was nice to welcome you back to the village and we do hope to see you again soon.
Don't forget that we serve simple fare as well as our delicious chefs choice menu so a quick supper is never far away.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We were so delighted to read your review of your afternoon tea at Kilcamb Lodge and even more delighted to be so favourably compared to Fortnum & Masons - such a lovely comment which has delighted the staff and made them feel justifiably proud.
We do hope you will return again for tea, lunch or dinner one day soon. Thank You.

We returned to Kilcamb Lodge with our dog, for a week.We received a very warm welcome from Mr and Mrs Fox, Steven(manager) and staff. Our bedroom was lovely and very comfortable, housekeeping was impeccable. We dined in the main dining room every evening and dinner was excellent on each occasion. My husband has special dietary requirements which were exceptionally well catered for by Steven, Gary and their team. Kilcamb Lodge is such a lovely place to stay and the setting is amazing, we had a wonderful holiday and look forward to another visit.

Room Tip: Room11 lovely and dog friendly, easy access to garden.

We planned a long awaited tour to the Summer Isles from our base in Argyll. Kilcamb was our first choice to start and finish our journey. We had stayed at the hotel on three previous occasions but nearly twenty years ago and it's position overlooking Loch Sunart is one of the most peaceful you will ever find. All the rooms are first class, well furnished with very comfortable beds and we were fortunate to have rooms overlooking the Loch on both days which was a real bonus. The furnishings to the reception and resident's sitting rooms are most tasteful and comfortable, giving a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere to all guests.
We ate in the restaurant on both days and the choice and quality of courses served, with the surprising added courses of soup and amuse bouche, were all cooked to perfection and beautifully presented - first class cuisine. We were made to feel special by our welcome from Steven (the manager), and Sally Ruthven-Fox, and we found the two front of house staff from the Czech Republic an absolute delight. We enjoyed our first three visits all those years ago and wondered whether on this occasion it would be the same. It surpassed our expectations and we will not leave it as long for our next visit. Thank you all for a wonderful two days on our journey.

Room Tip: All are good - loch view is a bonus

We have just returned from a two night break at Kilcamb. What a wonderful experience! From the minute we arrived to our departure we were looked after likely royalty. Room 7 has great views and a very nice, recently refurbished bathroom, which was immaculately clean.
The food was exemplary, the first night we had the five course fine dining in the restaurant. The scallop and black pudding starter - out of this world. Steak cooked to perfection.
The second night we dined in the Brasserie. Again - perfection. My compliments to Gary and his brigade. The front of house staff were magnificent, efficient and always attentive.
Thank you to you all for making our stay so enjoyable.

You would look far to find a better place. We have always loved Ardnamurchan and our experience has been enriched by the discovery of this enchanting, comfortable and friendly hotel with its charming and helpful staff. And that's before we even mention the food! Well done, Gary! You certainly played your part in making our stay memorable. We will certainly recommend you to our friends as THE place to stay. The fact that the hotel is pet friendly was a major factor in our choosing to visit, and we are certainly greatful to all the staff for welcoming our pet as well as ourselves! Thank you all so much.

Room Tip: Any room facing Loch Sunart is a great choice.

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay at this beautiful hotel. The location is stunning with amazing views across the loch and acres of well kept gardens and grounds. The lodge is exactly what one would expect from a gentlemen's residence with a very comfortable drawing room and lounge. The restaurant is delightful and the food excellent - although I regret to admit I struggled to complete the 5 course meal which along with canapes, amuse bouche and a complimentary soup course was a real challenge. However, my husband had no difficuly and rose to the challenge without any problem! The service is exemplary, quiet, understated and efficient. Steve, the general manager, always seemed to be on hand ably assisted by his professional team. Our room had a beautiful view, a very comfortable, large bed and a balcony with table and chairs. As we were blessed with glorious weather this was a real bonus. Particularly as I returned to the hotel in the afternoon to watch the Wimbledon final - I was able to watch television from the balcony with a delicious caesar salad and glass of chilled wine from room service! Another bonus was that we were able to take our dog with us and although he was not allowed in the public rooms, quite understandably, we were able to leave him in the room during dinner. There was a handy exit into the garden to take him out without having to go through the main areas of the hotel. We went to relax after a very busy period for us and we left feeling really 'chilled out'. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet get away in beautiful surroundings with superb food and every comfort. We hope to return.
