We know this area well and usually go self-catering, but this time we stayed at Kilcamb for one night. It's an absolute gem.
Room 12 was an incredibly spacious suite, beautifully decorated with 5 small windows mostly looking onto the loch. The room is no good for tall people(we were advised of this) as it has sloping ceilings - but we didn't mind as we're not that big! A lovely bathroom and elegant sitting area.More like 5 star but cosier,I thought.
The setting is glorious - big sweeping lawns and little paths cut into the grass to allow easy walking down to the shore with the only sound, curlews and oystercatchers.
We ate in the very attractive new Brasserie (the word hardly does it justice, it's quite posh). We noticed most of the 'fine dining' food is on the same menu as the Brasserie though you can also opt for fish and chips and more casual food,But the options were so attractive we decided to go for the Fillet and Foie Gras (£25) and the Trio of Venison(£20).Both were absolutely superb.Desserts - I just couldn't make up my mind. The Banana Daiquiri, Banana Creme Brulee and Peanut Butter Ice-cream concotion was to die for.Seriously good cooking.
Breakfast was one of the best I've had - the melon and orange cocktail with sorbet was gorgeous, really unusual.Smoked haddock was first class.
Professional and friendly staff, beautiful public rooms with gorgeous views, all very relaxed. We will definitely stay again or even just stop in for lunch or dinner.
1.5hrs away(on a VERY winding single track road) is fantastic Sanna Beach and the Lighthouse. If good weather, the drive (opposite direction) to Kingairloch is stunning too.
This is sea-eagle, golden eagle and otter country.

Room Tip: Room 12 was a huge suite ,but it's in the roof space so some ceilings are sloping, fine if you ar...

Concluding a short tour round the West Coast this proved a perfect base for three nights.
The room (11) was large enough and comfortable, as mentioned elsewhere the shower can be a bit hit or miss!
Breakfast was superb and Dinner very good. The lounge was a delight to relax in after dinner and on return from the days travels with a superb fire on the go.
It was a lovely relaxing place to be and definitely on the list for a return visit.

This is one of my most memorable stays. It's a large country house but has the warm feeling of a friends country home as opposed to a hotel. Our room was great a bit on the small side but fairly luxurious & ample for the 3 nights given you're out most of the day anyhow. The staff were friendly helpful & attentive. Well stocked bar & log fires help create a great atmosphere. The food was outstanding, one of the best meals we've had over the years & a real surprise. Hard to believe this place has 3 stars, it could hold its own with the best. No hesitation in recommending although you'll have to brave the Scottish weather! Great scenic location.

A very fine dining experience- exceptional cuisine served in stunning surroundings.
A place to chill and relax- the lounge room enabled you to kick off your cares (and shoes) and warm to the crackling of the wood burning fireplace.
A room to make you feel very special- spend a few nights in bedroom suite room5!
Discrete, professional (fun not dour!) service.
And then you step outside...Loch Sunart.
This was a 3 night break of outstanding quality.

Impeccable location, decor, service etc.
But to justify the prices the food will have to shine. Fish chowder was basically some tomato soup with a few chunks of fish and prawns thrown in. Perfectly edible but not commensurate with the price. And whilst a lot of thought had gone in to the presentation of their own fresh chips and a fried fish there was no getting away from the basic fact that we were not starting off with a fresh haddock.

Thank you for taking the time to review our new Driftwood Brasserie at Kilcamb Lodge Hotel.  We were delighted to hear that you were so impressed with our new refurbishments in our Brasserie and also that our service location and decor were "impeccable".
I would like to comment on your further observations; Our prices are based on the freshest ingredients which are all prepared in our kitchens by our team of 2 AA Rosette chefs.  These ingredients, including our fresh fish, meats and vegetables are regularly delivered to us throughout the week.
I think “Settlers” does great disservice to those valued suppliers many of whom have a long association with Ardnamurchan, Morvern and Kilcamb Lodge Hotel.  Our suppliers take great pride in being associated with the food we serve in our restaurants and ensuring we receive the very best produce.
On reading “settlers” review history on Trip Advisor I believe our readers will be able to draw their own conclusions on this reviewer’s true area of expertise.

This was our second stay at Kilcamb Lodge and we loved it just as much. The location, rooms, service and food are simply perfect. We would recommend this to everyone (and already have!) and hope to come back very soon.
Places to visit nearby -
* Island of Mull - Circa 30 minute drive from Kilcamb to ferry and 15 mins on ferry. Stunning and changeable scenery. Calgary Bay a must.
* Drive to Ardnamurchan point/lighthouse fantastic
* Beach at Sanna rivals the beaches of Barbados! Well worth the drive.
* Tioram Castle & Ardtoe Bay

Room Tip: The only negative about our room (room 11) was that the shower was bad - hot but no power and someti...

Kilcamb Lodge has had a refurbishment, of some public areas and a few bedrooms. The investment has been very effective. The warmth of welcome is still the same and very good it is too. The food has also improved since our last visit and certainly adds to the well being and ambiance of the stay. We had a great self-contained suite, on the second floor...... really a home from home. The service was excellent. These facilities combined with the natural beauty of Ardnamurchan makes it difficult to beat !!!!!!
