Passed through Lochgilphead over the May Day weekend and stopped to find somewhere to eat. We asked in 2 different shops where they would recommend and both pointed us in the direction of a well hidden small restaurant down a back lane called the Smiddy Bistro.
The place was very busy but the staff were welcoming and took time to speak to my daughter while we were waiting for a table. She was fascinated by the salad display full of fruit and the baking table full of goodies so it seemed worth waiting.
I was tempted by all of the specials on the boards and the menu was varied too. Although there was no children’s menu small portions of menu items were offered for children so my daughter had macaroni cheese with garlic slice and some of the fruit based salad on the side. The food presentation was lovely and it lived up to expectations when tasted, so much so that we scheduled our return journey to go back for lunch again on the way home. It was lovely that the staff recognised us and again took time to talk. I would certainly recommend this place for the warm welcome, efficient service and the variety of tasty beautiful local food.
