Ron, Ian and Brian ( 3 Lags ) stayed at the MacDonald 20th June 2014 in one of the chalets. Lovely warm welcome and great place to stay. The value for money cabins kept the snoring in, and the midges out; just what you want. Lovely food and breakfasts; we were also promised a late night snack after our 16 hour Mamore epic, but in the end, made it back in time for the full menu.
An excellent place run by a very efficient friendly staff and team.
Best Wishes
Ron

Room Tip: Apply Deet in the cabins, prior to running for the toilet block

Thank you for taking the time to write a review - and for one of the best room tips we've seen in a while!! We take full responsibility for the hospitality - but midges are beyond our control! Hope to see you here again.

Stayed here for a weekend in the cabins for daughters birthday weekend. The cabins are clean and warm with comfortable bunk beds. Owners and staff here are warm and friendly also very helpful. Food is lovely had two evening meals and two breakfasts all excellent value for money. Will defiantly be back , thanks guys.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the loch

After a truly horrible day of walking through horizontal rain on the West Highland Way, we fell into the welcoming walker's bar, and booked into one of the cabins in the grounds. After drying off, and showering (bliss) and hanging as much wet gear in the drying room as we could, we ate in the bar and enjoyed a few beers and good chat with the staff. A lovely place with views to die for and one of the best night's sleep I've ever had :-)

This hotel is right by the WHW and has a campsite and chalets as well as a camping area.
It is very good value and the service was good too. To make this a 5 star location, I would suggest more toilet facilities for people in the campsite and chalets (perhaps the new owners have this on their agenda?). The locals are friendly and welcoming too and I spent a convivial evening talking in the bar/restaurant. The cask beer was well kept and not at rip-off prices.
My stay was marred by the discourtesy of people staying in the chalets near to the campsite. A little after midnight I had to ask a large group who had moved their table near to the tents to be quiet. One of the group was playing a guitar! I think it would help if there was some signage indicating the times when noise should stop - and perhaps the owners could check to see if this is being observed.
However, the staff can't be held responsible for the selfish actions of their guests and there is an inherent conflict between those having a week-end break and walkers trying to get a good night's sleep.

This was our mountaineering club's second visit in as many months and again Mark and Helen and staff were superb. Four of our group stayed in one of the cabins while others were staying in a bed and breakfast in the village. We had let Mark and Helen know that some of us were going to make an attempt at doing all ten Mamores Munros, setting off at 4.30am but would probably not be back until at after 9pm. Knowing that the hotel officially stopped serving food at 9pm we asked what food options would be available and we were delighted to be offered lasagne and chips whenever we got back (which turned out to be 9.45pm). So refreshing for a highland pub to be so helpful and cannot fault the new owners. Best wishes for the future from all at Air Na Creagan Mountaineering Club (www.craggy.org.uk)

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we enjoyed having your party here and 10 munros is no mean feat - so lasagne was the least we could offer. Since your trip we have done several more 'late night lasagnes' so you have started a trend! Thanks Again!

A friendly welcome and helpful staff. The lady on reception rung my room when my bag had arrived (I arrived before it as it had been a short walking day on the WHW). The decor seemed a little outdated but the room was comfortable and clean. I ate in the bar and the food was superb. I had lentil soup (I was glad it was vegetarian: it isn't always) and moules. This was probably the best meal I had on the WHW. I also liked that they sold Prosecco by the glass. Breakfast and packed lunch were good standard fare. I would recommend staying here.

Whilst I can't comment on the quality of the rooms I can recommend this place with regards the welcome. We camped here one night recently. Genuinely dog-friendly, really helpful staff, reasonably priced food, and they don't charge for a shower (unlike some other establishments in the area!).
