“Ten Mamores Munros in a day and we still got fed!”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

This was our mountaineering club's second visit in as many months and again Mark and Helen and staff were superb. Four of our group stayed in one of the cabins while others were staying in a bed and breakfast in the village. We had let Mark and Helen know that some of us were going to make an attempt at doing all ten Mamores Munros, setting off at 4.30am but would probably not be back until at after 9pm. Knowing that the hotel officially stopped serving food at 9pm we asked what food options would be available and we were delighted to be offered lasagne and chips whenever we got back (which turned out to be 9.45pm). So refreshing for a highland pub to be so helpful and cannot fault the new owners. Best wishes for the future from all at Air Na Creagan Mountaineering Club (www.craggy.org.uk)

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we enjoyed having your party here and 10 munros is no mean feat - so lasagne was the least we could offer. Since your trip we have done several more 'late night lasagnes' so you have started a trend! Thanks Again!

A friendly welcome and helpful staff. The lady on reception rung my room when my bag had arrived (I arrived before it as it had been a short walking day on the WHW). The decor seemed a little outdated but the room was comfortable and clean. I ate in the bar and the food was superb. I had lentil soup (I was glad it was vegetarian: it isn't always) and moules. This was probably the best meal I had on the WHW. I also liked that they sold Prosecco by the glass. Breakfast and packed lunch were good standard fare. I would recommend staying here.

Whilst I can't comment on the quality of the rooms I can recommend this place with regards the welcome. We camped here one night recently. Genuinely dog-friendly, really helpful staff, reasonably priced food, and they don't charge for a shower (unlike some other establishments in the area!).

Mark and Helen are a breath of fresh air to this hotel, after 3 stays in 20 months with 3 different owners. It was great to have breakfast moved to 7:00 versus the old 8:00 which is late for those of us with 15 miles ahead to get to Ft William. Mark tracked down a hot toddy recipe for the bar to make me, to help a cold I had which was very much appreciated. They have also improved the WiFi greatly. The rooms are very clean and are standard hotel rooms. I know they will make a success of this - they have great customer service skills and they do genuinely care about their customers - which is why I'm giving 5 stars.

Had a fantastic stay after my son and brother got into serious trouble walking the West Highland Way. Mark and Helen were very understanding. It's a very welcoming stay for motor bikers Mark using his strength helping me unload my Triumph Tiger Steamer. Great spot to stay for ride outs. Must congratulate the chef for looking after me as I'm not into chips so did me mash and gravy instead! Many thanks for a most welcome stay! Will put a post on Real Biker Nod.

Thanks Neil Tom and Paul.

Mark you need to get your bike sorted!

Room Tip: The cabins are great value clean and tidy and very reasonably priced!

Having done our best to grind our feet into a paste, we arrived at the hotel rather late and looking slightly wild-eyed and desperate.

The staff were kind and, despite the kitchen being closed, popped off to fix us a pair of toasties. Throughout they were helpful, providing us assistance to prepare our onward travel plans, including stopping midway through their end-of-shift work to draw us a map of the bus stops we were going to need.

The bar had a very friendly atmosphere, the staff were friendly and helpful to a fault, the facilities (for campers) were good - none of the unclean shower horrors you sometimes get on other sites. Given we were feeling slightly crazed on arrival (Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven in a day turned out to be a little ambitious while carrying ~14kg packs), it is difficult to overstate how pleased we were with our warm reception.

We recently stayed in a cabin for 5 nights and have honestly had a brilliant time.

Staff were kind and the bar food and local beer were great. Owners were warming and created a relaxing environment.

Campsite itself was well laid out and there was a lovely atmosphere amongst the campers. Pot wash area was great. Showers were hot!

Location is unbeatable especially as we were walking and mountain biking. It was really satisfying returning to our cabin in the evening to have a few beers and to sit outside and enjoy the view of Loch Leven.

Brilliant value for money!

We will return next year!

Thank you
