After a pleasant drive to the hotel we fell in love with it instantly. It is in the most beautiful of settings .On arrival we were made very welcome and on being shown to our rooms were delighted to see we had lovely views down the loch.I like taking photographs so I knew I would be taking quite a few. The rooms were large with good quality furniture and very comfortable. It had a large tv which we didn't put on at all as we wanted an away from it all few days. A large menu with a good choice of local produce left us spoilt for choice and with very attentive staff made meals a pleasure. In the evenings the bar was very welcoming and although quiet., very friendly. Outdoors the scenary is wonderful and as the weather was quite good I got those photographs on our rambles.Overall it is a beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. We only stayed two days but will be back again Duncan and Lynne.

Most enjoyable stay. Very relaxing. Excellent dining (chef Colin). First Class service and attention (John and David). Totally recommended to wannabe visitors. Fiona and her staff are friendly, helpful and ensure that your stay is everything that you want it to be. Ideal base for relaxation, sight-seeing, hill-walking and fishing. Hotel is immaculately kept. My wife and I could find no fault with this hotel and are considering a return visit in the summer months.

We spent two fabulous days here with friends at the end of October 09. My husband and I had a junior suite - which had a lovely bedroom with adjoining living room and beautiful bathroom. The whole suite was very spacious - however, the two great things about the suite was the really great bed (my husband has a bad back - he hasn't been so comfortable in years) and a double sized jacuzzi bath!
The relaxation areas within the hotel were very comfortable and there was lots of lovely nooks to sit and relax. There was also lovely little hidden places to sit in the hotel grounds - totally magical setting away form everything.
Now to the food. When we go away, the quality of the food is really important to us and as far as we are concerned can make or break a holiday. I can only say that the food was absolutely fantastic! We had the full set menu on both nights and we are so glad we did. The menu was inventive and the quality of the ingredients first rate. The chef certainly seems to know his craft when pulling it all together.
Finally, the staff were all very helpful and attentive and greatly contributed to the enjoyment of our stay - really can't wait to return!

Second visit to the Taychreggan - July 2009 (we had previously had a lovely stay in Feb 08 when only part of the hotel was open due to the refurbishment). Our rooms were amazing, gorgeous loch views, comfortable super king size bed, plasma tv, bathroom very high quality and luxurious. Food was first class, dining room looks over the loch. I had a scallop dish for starter – it tasted so fresh. We all had fillet beef – my husband and daughter (age 14) still go on about how great the beef was!! Chef was happy for his staff to cater for our little boy (age 1)– he had an early supper in the TV room. In the first instance I would recommend this hotel as a romantic getaway for couples, yes we travelled with kids but they are very well behaved and used to staying in hotels – our baby was sleeping for 6.30pm. The staff are friendly and discreet - nothing is any trouble, We will be back in 2010!

We stayed one night in October for our wedding anniversary, what a disappointment. No staff to greet us,we wandered around for 15 mins before anyone appeared.Tv not working,no tea in room, very noisy plumbing from next doors bathroom.Breakfast service was a joke.We had to wait ages for any service and there were only seven guests staying. We had to ask for the table to be cleared so that we could have our toast and marmalade as plates and bowls had not been removed. We only found out when we checked out that the waitress was the Manager! She had not introduced herself or asked if we had slept well or if we were enjoying our stay.
The barman who also waited on table and answered the phone in the evening was very good.Dinner very nice.Nothing special.
I booked the night as a suprise for my husband but we were both very disappointed. The hotel has a lovely setting but needs a real update in decor and staff.

We were staying nearby and came here for dinner. Setting is truly spectacular, but the food was very disappointing. The menu sounded good but the food was bland and the fish overcooked. The orange sorbet between courses was a bit sickly.
The atmosphere was really dead and the decoration of the hotel was pretty boring / chain hotel style. A real shame as it could be a very special place if it just had a bit more identity.

Fiona, the manageress, organized an excellent seafood platter for our family and friends. It was beautifully simple with lovely fresh fish and accompaniments. We had a great evening in the well stocked bar, relaxed and informal... just what we wanted.
